The Lake County Sheriff’s Department is conducting an emergency hiring process for current law enforcement officers who would like to become Lake County Sheriff’s Department police officers.

Each applicant must be a certified police officer and must have successfully completed training through a state accredited police academy.

Applicants who are not Indiana residents must relocate to Indiana within 6 months of their hire date.

Applicants who live in Indiana, but reside outside of Lake County may seek a waiver from the sheriff to remain in their home county.

We are accepting applications online via publicsafetyapp.com Monday, July 14th through 12:00 a.m. Sunday, August 10th.

Friday night the Lake County Sheriff's Department Dive Team conducted training at Lake Street Beach. The training consisted of low light and night dive operations involving both our boat with tow bar and a surface swimmer with a vpattern of divers. We continue to train and strive to be the best we can to provide services to the community. Great job by all involved.

On Friday the Lake County Sheriff's Dive Team conducted a joint training session with members of the Gary Fire Department at Lake Street Beach. The training consisted of search patterns used by dive teams in locating both evidence and drowning victims and introduction of new equipment to the dive team members. Great job by everybody involved.
