🔥 Spring Open Burning Regulations 🔥

The State of Ohio’s seasonal open burning restrictions are now in effect.

From March 1 through May 31, open burning in unincorporated areas of Ohio is prohibited between the hours of 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.

These restrictions are in place due to increased wildfire risk during the spring months when vegetation is dry and winds are more common.

🚫 During Restricted Hours (6 AM – 6 PM)

Do NOT burn:
• Leaves
• Brush
• Yard debris
• Trash or refuse

✅ Burning Outside Restricted Hours (6 PM – 6 AM)

If you choose to burn during permitted hours, please use extreme caution:
• 🔹 Never leave a fire unattended
• 🔹 Keep a water source or fire extinguisher readily available
• 🔹 Avoid burning on windy days
• 🔹 Keep fires a safe distance from structures, vehicles, and wooded areas
• 🔹 Burn only natural vegetation (no plastics, rubber, treated wood, or household trash)
• 🔹 Fully extinguish the fire before leaving the area

Remember: Even during permitted hours, unsafe burning that creates a hazard or nuisance may result in enforcement action.

Local fire departments or state officials may also issue additional temporary burn bans during periods of drought or elevated fire danger.
