We had a fun gardening workshop this past Sunday!🫑🍅🌽
Kareen Erbe, from Broken Ground, hosted an amazing workshop! Everyone learned the basics of growing a garden and designed their garden plots based on the produce they chose. All participants left our workshop with a raised garden bed, plenty of soil, a gardening starter kit with tools, seeds from the Montana Indigenous Food Sovereignty Initiative (MIFSI), and seedlings from The 406 Greenhouse!
The seeds they received from MIFSI included Zucchini Costata Romanesco, Spring snap pea, Provider Green Bean, Slobolt Leaf Lettuce, Painted Mountain Corn, Standfast Sunflower, Delicata Squash, Caribe Cilantro, and Italian Mtn Sweet Basil. The seedlings they received from The 406 Greenhouse included Onions, Purple Cabbage, Ice Queen Lettuce, Roma Tomato, Sweet Cherry Tomato, Purple Cherokee Tomato, Heirloom, Tomato, Beef Steak Tomato, Jalepeno, Garden Salsa, Anaheim, and Red Bell Pepper.
There were so many people involved behind the scenes that made it successful. So much gratitude to Hunter Driftwood for packing seeds; John Doyle, Konner Doyle, Jessie Doyle, and Zander McCormick for unloading and loading soil; Elle Ross for being so generous with her forklift at the Helping Hands in Hardin Food Bank; Talon Lonebear for constructing all of the raised garden beds; Plenty Doors for allowing us to use their space and The 406 Greenhouse team for gathering the seedlings.🙌🏽
Huge thank you to Running Strong for American Indian Youth for their unending support!
