What is Inez Millholland's connection to Croton? Where did Ann Galleli go to college? These questions and more are part of the Notable Historic Women of Croton Scavenger Hunt put together by Girl Scout Troop 2267 to support the posters created by Our World's Creative Women, a program of Croton Council on the Arts, highlighting amazing Croton women. The posters are displayed in local Croton businesses. Copies were distributed via CET, and can be completed and returned to classroom teachers by the end of March in order to be entered into a raffle for rewards provided by local businesses. If you need a copy, you can download one at CrotonGirlScouts.org

Once a Girl Scout, always a Girl Scout.

Once a Girl Scout, always a Girl Scout.

Tonight, while watching the Academy Awards, our Girl Scouts hearts caught on a moment that felt wonderfully familiar.

As Rachel McAdams shared a moving tribute to the legendary Diane Keaton, she recalled Diane singing an old Girl Scout song on set.

The kind many of us know by heart:
“Make new friends but keep the old,
One is silver and the other gold.
A circle is round, it has no end,
That’s how long I’ll be your friend.”

And just like that… a simple campfire song found its way onto the biggest stage in Hollywood.

More than 50 million Girl Scout alumni strong, and somehow our little songs, our circles of friendship, and our belief in lifting one another up keep echoing through the world in the most unexpected places.

Friendship that lasts a lifetime.

Turns out the things we learn in Girl Scouts travel pretty far 💚🥰

Community at large, we need to talk.

One hundred thirteen years into Girl Scouting, and we are still defending our "older" Girl Scouts.

Here we are again - cookie season when you see the most Girl Scouts out and about and feel the need to say....where's the Girl Scout when you are speaking to one of our "older" Girl scouts, the ones in middle and High School - the ones in the Khaki uniforms.

Please stop asking “Where’s the Girl Scout?” when you see a high school Girl Scouts at cookie booths or serving in the community.

SHE is the Girl Scout!
And she is actively changing the world she lives in.

She matters. And the data proves it. Girl Scouts are more likely to graduate high school, earn college degrees, lead nonprofits, hold seats in Congress, and become CEOs and community leaders. That is not coincidence. That is the result of girls being trusted with leadership and given the time and space to grow.

Here is the shift we need from our community:

When you see an older Girl Scout, do not question her presence. Respect it.
Acknowledge her.
Ask about her goals.
Ask what she is building, leading, or changing in her community.
And say the words she deserves to hear:
“Thank you for STILL being a Girl Scout.”

These young women are earning Gold Awards, mentoring younger girls, and stepping into leadership right now.

They are not too old.
They are right on time.
They are our immediate tomorrows.

When we discount them, we risk losing the very leaders our communities need most.

Let’s do better. For them.
