About Us

Hi! My name is Sherrissse-Lee Lewis. I was born and raised in the South Bronx and I am a mom to a lovely 7 years old boy. I am the proud founder and owner of “ Mommy Milk Express”. Mommy Milk Express started out as a conversation I was having one morning with a co-worker of mine. We were talking about child-rearing practices and child-rearing beliefs and she was so stressed about coming back to work and not being able to stay home and breastfeed her newborn just a little longer. I felt her pain because I knew just how that felt and as with any working mom we miss out on so much and have to sacrifice so much of what we believe is best for our children especially upon returning to work. She continued to go on about having to pump and then trashing the milk because there was no space to keep it at the office and no way to get it to her baby. Towards the end of the conversation, I joking questioned: “ imagine if there was a service for that?” and laughed it off. As the day went by I thought about it some more and tried researching companies that might be offering the service. -This was back in 2015 by the way, as far as I knew was nothing of the such in NYC at the time and there was definitely nothing in the Bronx offering a service of the such. That night I continued to research the interwebs and continued reaching out to different people who might be in the loop about delivery services for nursing women. I became frustrated. I couldn’t find anything. I wanted to change that and that is when I began brainstorming what Mommy Milk Express would look like. Mommy Milk Express became real on February 25th, 2015. I ran the service out of my 1 bedroom apartment in the South Bronx, and hired bike messengers to deliver mother’s milk from workplace to babies place of care. Today we have contracts with Bronx based business who help provide our services to their employees, Mommy Milk Express memberships, coffee conversations( mommy meetups) and wellness class for breastfeeding mothers and post breastfeeding mothers and are hoping to do so much more!
