Cat Trap Fever To promote and conduct targeted Trap Neuter Vaccinate Return (TNVR) of community cat colonies and educate caregivers on best colony management practices.

Cat Trap Fever envisions a future where the community cat population of Cumberland County, Tennessee is managed through the cooperation of the public, nonprofit organizations, municipalities and local government by education, implementation, and promotion of a Trap Neuter Vaccinate Return (TNVR) program.

COMMUNITY CATS 101

WHAT IS A COMMUNITY CAT FEEDING STATION?

A feeding station isn’t simply a bowl of food left outside. It’s a designated, managed location where an existing group of community cats can reliably receive food and fresh water.

A good feeding station starts with a caregiver who knows the cats and establishes a consistent location and feeding schedule. Ideally, the cats are also part of a TNVR program so they are spayed or neutered, vaccinated and ear-tipped.

Stations are generally placed in quiet, low-traffic areas where the cats already live. Covered feeding areas can protect food from the weather, while scheduled feeding and removing leftovers help keep the area clean and discourage insects and wildlife.

Feeding stations also make it easier for caregivers to monitor their colony—spotting newcomers, injuries or illness and identifying cats that still need to be TNVRed.

Most importantly, a feeding station is meant to support the cats already living in that area. It should never be viewed as an appropriate place to abandon or relocate unwanted cats.

Responsible feeding + TNVR + ongoing monitoring = better community cat management. 👍

As Cat Trap Fever continues to grow and expand our impact in the community, we’re looking for dedicated volunteers to join our team and help us make an even bigger difference for community cats in Cumberland County.

📍 Event Coordinator

We’re looking for someone who can help organize and manage our outreach efforts by:
• Coordinating vendor shows, festivals, and craft fairs
• Researching and securing new event opportunities
• Managing and storing event supplies and display materials
• Organizing volunteers for events
• Overseeing our existing vendor spaces and fundraising opportunities

📍 Volunteer Coordinator

We’re looking for a people person who can:
• Review volunteer applications
• Reach out to prospective volunteers
• Help match volunteers with roles that fit their interests and skills
• Coordinate meet-and-greets and onboarding
• Help build and support our amazing volunteer team

📍 Trapping Volunteers

One of the most important parts of what we do is humanely trapping cats so they can be spayed, neutered, vaccinated, and returned to their outdoor homes. We are looking for volunteers willing to learn trapping techniques and help us reach more cats throughout the county. Training and support are provided.

📍 Recovery & Aftercare Volunteers

Our cats need a safe place to recover before and after their clinic appointments. We’re looking for compassionate volunteers to help provide aftercare in our recovery facility by feeding, monitoring, and ensuring cats are comfortable during their short stay. This role is critical to the success of our TNVR program and can often be done in just a couple of hours.

Every cat we help starts with people willing to step forward and lend their talents. Whether you’re organized, enjoy working with people, love helping animals, or simply want to give back to your community, there’s a place for you at Cat Trap Fever.
