Happy $5 Friday y’all! 🎉

We really need your help! The 27 bales of hay that we bought with your help is out and we need to buy more hay. 🌾
We’ve been looking for another deal like we got, but unfortunately can’t find one so the round bales cost us $75 apiece and we go through 3 to 4 a week with the animals. 🌾🐴🫏🦙🐷

If you could just donate five dollars that would help us so much!
We always appreciate everyone’s Support. 💖

🐴💜 It’s $5 Friday! 💜🐴

Every $5 donation helps us provide hay, feed, and care for the animals at the rescue. Every little bit adds up! 🙏❤️

And don’t forget Honey the mule is still looking for her forever home! 🥰 If you think Honey might be the perfect addition to your family, send us a message about adoption.

Thank you for always supporting our rescue! 💖

I love this! 💖🫏

I love this! 💖🫏

1. Donkeys need other donkeys. Donkeys can pair bond, which means they are friends with their chosen partner for life. Breaking up these pair bonds can emotionally devastate your donkeys, and can even lead to death, as they grieve the loss of their pair bonded friend so deeply.
2. Donkeys are not horses, sheep, goats, cattle, ducks... You name it. Besides the fact that other livestock does not speak donkey, nor play or socialize the way that donkeys do, they also do not have a donkey appropriate diet. Donkeys should live with other donkeys, be on a donkey appropriate diet, which is 1.5% of their ideal body weight in low calorie and low carbohydrate and sugar forage a day. Obviously exceptions for animals that are growing, lactating, or pregnant, or elderly. Donkeys should not have a rounded back or fat pads, they should look like a sleek A-frame house along their top line.
3. Donkeys are extremely intelligent, and if you ever call a donkey "stupid" that is a surefire way I know that you have been outsmarted by one! Donkeys think before they react, and unless you make it worth their while, and communicate in donkey, they will not do as you say.
4. Donkeys need the same level of veterinary and hoof care as horses. They need their hooves trimmed at least every 8 weeks unless they are out on a ground surface that they can self trim on, which is quite rare. They also need yearly dentals, vaccinations, appropriate deworming based on parasite load, and are susceptible to all of the same diseases horses can get.
5. Donkeys are stoic and by the time they are showing a disease process, they are farther along in it than a horse would be. If your donkey is even acting slightly off, it is likely an emergency. Don't wait. They hide illness very well.

And lastly, donkeys are some of the best creatures in the world. They are also some of the most maligned and misunderstood. Share this if you want to spread awareness on Donkey welfare and keeping!
