RAM will contribute up to $1,000,000 to the National FFA Foundation based on the views of the video and activity on the website. The bulk of the new funding will be dedicated to supporting the FFA hunger initiative “Feeding the World–Starting at Home.”

The ad serves as a call to action for the public to celebrate 2013 as the Year of the Farmer. Individuals may do so by visiting a special Web page, viewing the positive messaging of the video and inviting others to do the same.

The ad, which features a popular poem by the late broadcaster Paul Harvey, is being supported with a cover wrap of USA Today and a significant Web presence across other electronic media.

Suwannee River Fair News!

As summer draws to an end, it is time to start preparations for the 2013 Suwannee River Fair.

The General Meeting for the Suwannee River Fair & Livestock Association will be held on Tuesday, August 28, 7:00 p.m. at the Suwannee River Shrine Club*; 7821 Highway 26; Fanning Springs. Elections for seats on the Board of Directors will be held at this meeting.

* Please make a note of the change of venue for this meeting

The Dixie County seats that are to be filled are currently held by: Gene Faircloth and Greg Sanchez. The Levy County seats that are to be filled are currently held by: Frank Dola and Vadin Barber. The Gilchrist County seats that are to be filled are currently held by: Michelle Walker-Crawford and Earl (Peewee) Jones. The Director at Large seat will also be filled and it is currently held by Hugh Thomas. Nominees must be present. You must be a fair member to vote.

Membership: Members must be at least 18 years old. Students grade K-12 or home schooled equivalent in Dixie, Levy or Gilchrist counties are not eligible to be members. The annual dues are $5.00 per person, payable to the Suwannee River Fair. Dues can be submitted at the General Meeting or mailed to: P O Box 252, Trenton, FL 32693. If you choose to submit your dues by mail, please be sure to include your name, address, telephone and the county in which you live. Only members in good standing will be eligible to vote (dues paid before or at the General Meeting).

A second meeting will be held on September 11th to review changes to the fair rules for 2013 and to address questions. This meeting will be held at Hudson Properties Meeting Room which is located at: 124 North Main Street, Chiefland (between Suwannee Valley Internet and Farmer’s Furniture). The board would like to encourage FFA Advisors, 4H Leaders and Parents to attend this meeting. The Board of Directors and Show Superintendents will be on hand to answer any questions.
