Paralyzed Veterans of America, Texas Chapter Improving Lives...Building Futures...
Veterans Service Organization The goal was to acquaint the public with the needs and problems associated with paralysis.

Paralyzed Veterans of America, Texas Chapter was founded in 1972 in Texas by veterans for the benefit of persons who have injuries or diseases of the spinal cord. To promote medical research in several fields connected with injuries and diseases of the spinal cord, including research in neurosurgery and orthopedics and orthopedic appliances. To advocate and foster complete and effective re-conditi

oning programs for paraplegics and quadriplegics, including a thorough physical program, physiotherapy, academic and vocational education, psychological orientation and readjustment to family and friends. Although some of our members served in World War II, we got our start after the first Vietnam Veterans returned home. We continue to provide programs for our members that are unduplicated by any other organization.

2026 Rifle National Championships Submitted by Toai Nolan

The 2026 Rifle National Championships was an incredible experience and a reminder that hard work, dedication, and the support of others can make amazing things possible.

I am proud to share that I won Gold in both the Para R3 Mixed 10m Air Rifle SH1 and Para R6 Mixed 50m Rifle Prone SH1 events, earning the title of National Champion in both disciplines. These achievements represent countless hours of training, perseverance, and the determination to continue improving every day.

Our team also had outstanding performances. Leah Groggett earned a Silver Medal in the Para R3 Mixed 10m Air Rifle SH1 event, demonstrating tremendous skill and dedication throughout the competition.

My wife, Adessa Nolan, also had an exceptional championship, bringing home a Silver Medal in R9 Mixed 50m Smallbore SH2 Prone and a Bronze Medal in R4 Standing 10m Air Rifle. Watching her compete and succeed at this level was something truly special.

While we are proud of these accomplishments, the medals and titles tell only part of the story. None of this would have been possible without the unwavering support of the Texas Paralyzed Veterans of America (Texas PVA). The Texas PVA has done far more than simply help athletes attend competitions. They have invested in us, believed in us, and provided opportunities that many adaptive athletes would otherwise never have.

The Texas PVA's commitment to adaptive sports gives veterans and individuals with disabilities the chance to challenge themselves, develop confidence, build lifelong friendships, and compete at the highest levels. Through their support, athletes are able to access training opportunities, equipment, travel assistance, coaching, and competitions that help turn goals into reality. For many of us, these opportunities are life-changing.

As athletes, we often stand on the podium alone, but the truth is that every medal is shared with the people and organizations that helped us get there. The success our team experienced at this year's National Championships is a direct reflection of the support and dedication of the Texas PVA. Their belief in adaptive sports has opened doors for countless athletes, including our family, and we are deeply grateful for everything they do.

We would also like to thank everyone who has encouraged us along the way—our coaches, teammates, volunteers, family members, and supporters. Your encouragement motivates us to keep striving for excellence both on and off the range.

We are honored to represent the Texas PVA and the adaptive shooting community, and we look forward to continuing to grow, compete, and inspire others through the sport we love.

Thank you, Texas PVA, for believing in us and giving us the opportunity to pursue our dreams. We truly could not have achieved these accomplishments without your support.

PVA Texas Para Sports Third Annual Shooting Program

Another great year for the PVA & Texas Para Sport Shooting Program!

This year's event was a tremendous success, with nearly double the number of participants compared to last year. We are excited by the continued growth of the program and are already looking forward to an even bigger turnout next year.

One of the most rewarding aspects of this year's program was seeing participants of all ages and with a wide range of disabilities come together to enjoy the sport of shooting. The smiles on the faces of our athletes said it all as many proudly returned home with medals and memories that will last a lifetime.

Our team performed exceptionally well throughout the competition. Every shooter gave their best effort, and their hard work paid off as we captured First Place in the Team Event. It was a proud moment for everyone involved and a testament to the dedication of our athletes and coaches.

This program would not be possible without the support and leadership of Marco De LaRosa. Marco has been one of the greatest inspirations behind this program's success. As an Olympian, he generously gives his experience, time, and even personal resources to help new and upcoming shooters develop their skills and confidence.

Marco's patience, dedication, and willingness to help others are truly remarkable. His commitment to growing the sport and supporting athletes with disabilities has made a lasting impact on countless lives. On behalf of all our athletes, families, volunteers, and supporters, thank you, Mr. De LaRosa, for everything you do.

We would also like to extend our sincere gratitude to Major Tom Groggett for expertly running the range and helping ensure that the event was safe, organized, and enjoyable for everyone involved. His hard work behind the scenes was essential to the success of the program.

A special thank you goes to Jennifer Weatherford, Director of Operations and Military Programs, for her outstanding support of this event. Jennifer worked tirelessly to help secure a location for the program and obtain funding for meals for our participants. Her dedication, leadership, and commitment to serving veterans and adaptive athletes helped make this year's event a tremendous success.

The success of this program is the result of many people working together with a shared commitment to supporting adaptive sports and empowering athletes with disabilities. We are grateful for every volunteer, supporter, family member, and participant who made this event possible.

We look forward to another outstanding year of growth, competition, friendship, and achievement in 2027.
Respectfully,

Toai Nolan
