This week's Senior Newsline (in case you missed it!)
May is here - the busiest months of the year.
Congratulations to all of the Crofton High School graduates! Our community is so proud of their accomplishments and excited for what the future holds for these bright and gifted young people. We wish to express our congratulations to all the high school and college graduates in our community, as well.
A BIG thank you to the Crofton St. Rose CCD students for the beautiful May Day Baskets- a charming tradition (and special treat) to usher in the merry month of May.
A Happy Mother’s Day to all of the Moms, Grandmothers, and Mother-figures who have blessed our lives. Perhaps many remember some of the traditions used in honoring our mothers and the mother-figures in our lives. Mother's Day, celebrated on the second Sunday in May in the US, typically involves remembering mothers with breakfast in bed, flowers, cards, and home-made gifts from the littlest children. Does anyone remember buying an orchid for mom to wear to church on Sunday or creating tissue paper flowers with pipe cleaner stems, crafting necklaces made from lacing yarn with buttons, beads, and macaroni, or crocheting hot pads? Whatever the celebration or the gifts, take time this Sunday to celebrate the mothers, the maternal figures, and treasure the memories of the moms who have passed on.
May Birthday Celebration with Birthday BINGO is scheduled for Wednesday, May 20th at 1:00 pm sponsored by Crofton Ladies Auxiliary with Wendy Weiseler. The Birthday BINGO Party is FREE with a large assortment of prizes followed by cake and coffee. The Birthday cake is provided by Farmers and Merchants State Bank and prepared by Janine Tramp of People’s Grocery. All ages are invited (and you don’t need to be born in the month of May to attend the party). Join the Fun!
Picnic season is here. Join the Crofton Senior Center for a Memorial Weekend picnic-serving Beanies and Weinies with chips and a drink for a suggested donation on Saturday, May 23rd from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm. More details will be coming soon.
Also, watch for details on the upcoming annual June “Walk in the Park Plant Sale Fundraiser” at the South City Park shelter house. A HUGE Thank you to Diane’s Greenhouse for sharing her beautiful flowers, trees, bushes, plants, and baskets. This is a great opportunity to buy some flowers and plants to beautify your porch or all-seasons room, give your home some “curb appeal”, or just add some color to your life while supporting the Crofton Senior Center.
Everyone is invited to enjoy the daily activities and delicious meals offered at the Center. Make sure to stop in to the Crofton Senior Center to pick up a May calendar so you won’t miss a thing. Happy May!
