Nine Dragons for a Better Future Program

Nine Dragons for a Better Future Program Nine Dragons for a Better Future Program is a local youth program sponsored by Limitless Potential Squared, Inc. a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization.

Texas Afterschools Centers on Education (ACE) Program: The specific program curriculum is based on the guidelines of the Nine Dragon Martial Arts Academy (NDMA). Each student will develop a winning spirit and achieve certain physical and mental requirements for each rank. Physical: Our activities promote muscle strength, agility, aerobic endurance and hand-eye coordination. Students will reach a

certain level of coordination and physical fitness for each rank. Every student will learn specific martial art techniques and forms at every level while developing a personal workout program. Mental: Each student must memorize the Kyuki-Do Student Pledge and the Tenets of Kyuki-Do. Students will learn to count and describe certain techniques in Korean. Every student has reading assignments and is required to write papers at each rank on subjects from the meaning of courtesy (which is the first Tenet of Kyuki-Do) to reports on “The 7 Habits of Successful People”. Strong Spirit: Each student will learn to harness their winning spirit giving them the desire to reach their full potential. Students will learn to develop a strong spirit helping them overcome arrogant and selfish behavior. Every student will learn to constantly strive to become a better person while living a life filled with humility, integrity and compassion for others. Bully Busters Program: The specific program curriculum is based upon the Bully Buster System created by Dr. Terrence Webster-Doyle and is broken down into three parts known as (A.R.M). Avoid: Students will learn how to become more aware of their surroundings and recognize the danger signs of bullying. Students are taught you can prevent a conflict by simply understanding and being aware of it. The sooner a student recognizes that a conflict or fight is brewing the more time they have to try and prevent it. Resolve: Students will learn how to stop a conflict once the situation has escalated because they were unable to prevent or avoid it. Using nonviolent verbal skills students can stop the conflict in its tracks. Manage: Students will learn that once attempts at avoiding and resolving the situation have failed they will be forced to protect themselves and stop the attack. Each student will learn basic blocks to protect themselves from punches and kicks. Students will also learn escape and counter techniques for the most common type of attacks (wrist grabs, shirt grabs, hair grabs, head locks, bear hugs, chokes, ground pins, etc.). Camp Kyuki-Do: Our specific program curriculum provides youth with supervised activities that teach core values, conflict resolution and leadership skills. Kids have fun while building self-confidence, appreciating teamwork and gaining independence. We emphasize team building exercises that incorporate physical activity and problem solving skills. Students learn to work together to accomplish team goals and to demonstrate good sportsmanship. In between structured activities students have the opportunity to swim, fish, utilize the playground and play sports. The Ninja Challenge is designed to push students to their physical limits. The obstacle course is typically made up of a variety of obstacles which challenge the students mentally and physically. The three students with the fastest times are awarded prizes.
