Saturday was a big day for Blue River 4-H at the Gayle Hanshaw/ECTC all conference meet. 4 seniors medaled Saturday, left to right Emmett Pieper tied for 3rd in his division and won his shoot off to bring home the 3rd place medal. Alexis VanAsperen tied for top of her class and also won her shoot off to earn the gold medal. Cole Snider had the top score in his class to earn his gold medal. Blake Cerny took the silver in his class. Junior medalists are Karr Jones who was in a 3-way shoot off tied for 2nd in his class. He won to earn that 2nd place medal. Brenden Bergmeyer earned the bronze in his class. Classes were determined by season averages at the 6 regular-season meets.

Conference and division honor squads are determined by taking the top meet averages from all 3 divisions and then the top averages from the division. Junior honorees are Broden Whitney and Maddox Blacketer, both earning 3rd squad in the south division, and Grant Juricek earning a spot on the 1st squad of the south division. Senior Addison Ridley earned a position on the all-conference female squad, Blake Cerny south division 1st squad, Paxton Behrens south division 3rd squad.

Congratulations to this year's division and conference award winners from Blue River 4-H. Award winners are selected based on their meet scores from the 6 spring regular-season meets. The top scores in the conference (from all 3 divisions) are selected to form the conference teams and then the top remaining averages in the divisions are selected for the division teams. The top average earns the 1st post of the 1st squad, 2nd high average the 2nd post of the first squad, and on down the line. We had 3 junior division qualifiers. Starting at the bottom and working up, Maddox Blacketer earned post 5 on the South division 3rd squad, Broden Whitney 4th post on the 3rd squad, Grant Juricek 5th Post on the first squad. For seniors Paxton Behrens was 2nd post of the 3rd squad and Blake Cerny earned 3rd post on the top south division squad. We had one conference team qualifier, Addison Ridley was the number 2 female average in the conference and so earned the 2nd post on the lady conference squad. Just to give a sense of how tight these scores often are the difference between 1st and 2nd was 1 more broken target out of 500, and that just tends to go on down the list with only 1 or 2 targets separating most spots. Division and conference honor recipients will be recognized at the all-division meet held tomorrow in Lincoln.
