Epona Horse Rescue Established in 2004, we are a 501 (c)3 non- profit dedicated to unwanted and equine in trouble.

Our goal is a compassionate and caring approach to rescuing, rehabbing and then rehoming. We are a 501 c3 non profit dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation and rehoming of unwanted, neglected and slaughterbound equine and other large animals. We are also dedicated to educating the public on need for rescues, introducing children to horses and community outreach to show the community how much these gentle creatures have to offer.

Update on Max. He is thriving and loves life. He is 58 lbs almost up to proper weight and loving farm life.
Because he is a German Shepherd and hip health is so very important we will be waiting to neuter him. He needs the hormones for the development and stability of his muscles and joints. He will be neutered after his body matures.
The next step in his journey is to go to a qualified foster for socializing and training. He will be leaving next week for the foster home. I have known this family over 13 years. His training will be humane and no shortcut gimmicks that are so popular today will be used. He will be taught to respond to verbal commands and to respect livestock and other critters.
Max is smart, trusting and full of life.
Enjoy this video of Max at the pond last night.

Well everyone meet Max. This sweet goofy boy had fallen onto hard times. A good friend got him out of a tough situation and when the new home that was arranged fell through Max came to Epona. He is a purebred grade German Shepherd puppy around 8 months old.
He went to vet today. He is heartworm negative, healthy and very exuberant.
He is good with the cats it seems. After he is neutered and vet work completed he will be available for adoption. It will have to be a German Shepherd experienced home with fencing and the ability to meet the needs of a growing highly intelligent boy.

UPDATE ON RANGO
Photo from before he went home

Spoke to Rango's owner on video chat recently. Rango is doing well, gaining weight and loving being home. Terri wanted me to express her profound gratitude to all that had a hand in his journey to return home. Tyler Shears and Katelyn Shears , she especially wanted both of you to know how grateful she was for your selfless act of transporting him to the meeting point.
Thank you to everyone that helped with this very happy ending.
