What if the Energy Fair was not just a festival, but a living experiment in regenerative community building? ☀️
For nearly four decades, the Crestone Energy Fair (CEF) has served as a hub for practical and innovative ideas about living sustainably in the San Luis Valley, reflecting our community’s dedication to living in balance with each other and the land.
Since 1989, CEF has evolved while staying rooted in one core idea: exploring how we live here together, how we can do it more wisely, and how we can inspire others to do the same.
This year, we’re using the event as a moment to pause, reflect, and prune.
After years of growth, with complex logistics, overworked volunteers, and a limited budget, we asked: if an event that celebrates sustainability is exhausting the people who create it, are we truly walking the talk?
This question has led to a profound shift.
Rather than repeating an unsustainable cycle, we’re refocusing on community participation, meaningful connection, and projects that strengthen Crestone year-round.
This year’s gathering will be more collaborative, participatory, and locally rooted — a place to contribute, not just attend.
We’re letting CEF show us what it wants to be, and trusting that this act of pruning will make space for something more meaningful to grow.
Want to get involved? Join us this Saturday in Little Pearl Park from 12pm-3pm to be a part of this revolutionary shift. 🤝
