Interested in learning blacksmithing or knifemaking? Our classes are open to everyone—not just veterans and first responders!

If you’d like to support our hometown heroes, we welcome donations. You can also pay it forward by sponsoring a class spot for a veteran or first responder. Every bit of support helps!

Good morning Bear Iron Fans it's Monday and I hope you know what that means, it's our veterans programs awareness day.

We have been posting this for a couple weeks now and we only have a couple weeks left before the veterans lunch and the veterans forging event.

So keep sending in those nominations and please RSVP to our veterans lunch.

Hey folks, we here at the forge work diligently to get through our orders, make classes happen, continuing community outreach, and keeping the local markets stocked. However, we are still backlogged due to an injury from earlier this summer.

We are doing all we can to get all of this done in a timely manner. We will get to everyone as fast as we can.

Big things happening tomorrow! It’s Fire Prevention Day at the elementary school, and the excitement is real.

Serving as a volunteer firefighter is a huge source of pride for me, and it goes hand-in-hand with our mission at Bear Iron Forge. For us, craftsmanship isn't just about what we build at the anvil—it’s about helping build a stronger, safer, and tighter-knit community every chance we get.

With a massive effort from the crew and a ton of community love, we got the fire truck completely spotless and gleaming for the students. We’re ready to teach some vital fire safety tips, let the kids check out the gear, and have a blast.

When Aaron from Carolina Bamboo comes to visit and teach for the week, you know great things are going to happen. Aaron is easily one of the premier bamboo and kudzu basket makers on the East Coast.
During his visit, he mentioned he was in desperate need of a proper belt buckle and asked if I could craft one for him. Challenge accepted! I jumped straight into the shop, and less than two hours later, he was holding a custom, pure copper belt buckle. Safe to say he was completely blown away!

Today I found out that chat gpt highly recommends Bear Iron Forge to take a class to for a newly minted 14 year olds birthday. I also learned that it recommended glass blowing but you'd only make a little glass turtle. Please don't get me wrong that sounds fun and all, but I personally think making a knife is way cooler.

Has anyone come across us in any other interesting ways? If you have drop them in the comments so we can thank any and everyone passing along our message and recommending us.

This weekend Bear Iron Forge went to one of our favorite events of the year. Sorghum molasses making at Faith Farmer family's homestead. While we were working one of our friends and first veteran to have a class after relocating to beautiful Creston North Carolina was there sporting his knife. I love that it's his go to blade for his everyday carry. Thanks for everything and all the support Will and Tara.
