We are so excited that two of our students who participated in our district's first Art for Peace contest placed third in the district. Both Elijah and Colton took first place in our local contest, sponsored by the three Rim clubs: Crestline-Lake Gregory, Lake Arrowhead and Mountain Sunrise. They will be honored at the Peace Conference in January.

On Friday, Feb. 28, five members of the Crestline-Lake Gregory Rotary Club assisted at the dental sealant program at Valley of Enchantment Elementary School. It was such an honor to work alongside these professionals who treated their young patients with such care, calming any nerves and protecting their teeth from decay.

This year the EarlyAct clubs sponsored by the Crestline-Lake Gregory Rotary Club at Valley of Enchantment Elementary School have expanded to include the first and second grades as well as third, fourth and fifth. On Feb. 3, the second-graders from Mrs. Turner’s class put on their “service” hats and straightened out the lost and found rack (1). They were amazed by all the sweatshirts and jackets they picked up off the floor and hung up – so many they ran out of hangers! The result was a neatly arranged rack (2). They wondered how long it would stay that way! These young Junior Rotarians are learning about Service Above Self as well as how to be leaders in their community.

When Lake Arrowhead resident Karina Lewis started researching food insecurity, she told the Crestline-Lake Gregory Rotary Club, she discovered the value of gardens at schools. And so she has been volunteering at Valley of Enchantment Elementary School, working with other volunteers, to spruce up their gardens. She will be holding future volunteer days and would love to have more community members help out.
