Broadcasting since 1986, KBUT serves the Gunnison Valley through diverse on-air programs, volunteer opportunities open to all community members, and ongoing support for the area’s nonprofit organizations and educational institutions. Community radio is a significant facilitator of democratic ideals and civic participation and is an invaluable community resource, particularly for a rural and remote area such as Gunnison County.

KBUT is very sad to share the news of another loss to our beloved radio family... Dan Baynes has left this earthly realm and we miss him dearly. We send love and healing vibes to his family and all those that knew the man behind Turtle Island. His show was one of a kind and he poured his heart into each program he DJed here. His love for this station was immeasurabe and we will cherish all the time we were able to share with him on and off the air.

**Please Join Toni Todd and KBUT for a tribute to Dan and his show, Turtle Island, tomorrow, Saturday, June, 5th from noon-2pm. Come for some snacks, call in to share a story and pay homage to our dear friend, Dan Baynes.

We love you Dan, rest easy and may your spirit fly high.

Join us picnic style for the most delicious Cajun-style fish fry dinner served up with some hot music from local legends, HIGHLIFE, super fun kids activities from The Trailhead, lawn games, Spenny's Ice Cream, a community gathering, and our Summer Raffle drawing!
