One of the most common questions we hear about Hive to Harvest is this:
Do we sell food at Hive to Harvest?
No. Absolutely not.
Hive to Harvest operates a free community pantry, and anyone who walks through our doors receives food. No one is turned away, and no donation or participation is ever required to receive support.
So how do we keep our pantry stocked with fresh, high-quality food each week?
Through our Pantry Plus Sponsorship Program.
Our Pantry Plus Sponsors are a generous group of community members who step forward to help fund the sourcing, rescue, and transportation of the food that fills our free pantry each week. Their donations allow us to bring in fresh produce, dairy alternatives, and other nutritious foods that might otherwise go to waste.
But their role doesn’t stop there.
Our sponsors also serve as Hive to Harvest ambassadors. Each week they get creative with the same fresh ingredients we source for the pantry — preparing nutritious meals and sharing recipes with the H2H community.
This does two powerful things:
🥕 It helps families learn new ways to cook with the fresh ingredients they receive.
❤️ It reduces the stigma often associated with receiving food pantry items by showing that this is simply good food being shared with neighbors.
Last year, about 40 local families participated as sponsors on rotation, stepping up as they are able to support the pantry and the neighbors we serve.
This community-powered model allows Hive to Harvest to remain self-funded, sustainable, and fully aligned with our nonprofit mission to provide food and support to our neighbors in need.
Because of them, everyone who walks through our doors can leave with nourishing food.
We are incredibly grateful for the sponsors, volunteers, and community members who make this mission possible.
Food for Today. Skills for Tomorrow. 🌱
