CYWC Family – As many of you have heard, one of our very own, Logan McCabe, has recently been diagnosed with Hodgkin Lymphoma. He is currently a Sophomore and on the Crestwood wrestling team. Logan, and his family, have been active members of wrestling in Cresco for many years.
Please read his mom’s words here: Logan noticed his right clavicle area was swollen and tender to the touch Tuesday, March 24th. He started taking ibuprofen for the pain and doctoring for it Wednesday and by Thursday (3/26) afternoon he had a CT scan, which took us to St Mary’s ER that evening. The CT scan discovered a mediastinal mass (in the chest cavity between the lungs) and some abnormal lymph nodes in that area and up into his lower neck. He had a large Easter egg size lymph node removed from his right lower neck area Friday (3/27) for biopsy. He also had a PET scan Monday, that didn’t show any other areas of concern. Logan has been diagnosed with Hodgkin Lymphoma, nodular sclerosis type. Hodgkins is one of the most treatable, curable types of cancer. He had his first chemotherapy treatment Thursday at St Mary’s. He will now continue to have his treatment every 14 days, outpatient at Mayo Clinic. He will have a scan the middle of May to see how he is responding to the chemotherapy and how many more cycles he will need.
Please join us in offering our support to Logan and his family in any way you can.
