This is the final video in our Rikuzentakata interview series!

This time, we’re joined by Kiyoshi Murakami and two wonderful women from Rikuzentakata.

Kiyoshi is someone who has played an important role in the friendship between Crescent City and Rikuzentakata, and together we talk about the connections that have grown between our two cities.

I hope you enjoy this final interview

Here’s the second interview from Rikuzentakata!
This time, I talked with City Council Member Akihiko Ito and his family.

Mr. Ito’s daughter and his two grandchildren are in the video too!!

To keep this friendship going from one generation to the next, connections between local people are very important.
We want to build more than just government and business relationships, so we’re looking for new ideas to create more opportunities for people-to-people exchange!

When I recently stayed in Rikuzentakata for two months, they held a welcome party for me and my kids.

I interviewed a few people there, so I’ll be sharing those interviews in a few parts!

The Kenka Tanabata or "Fighting Tanabata" is a 900 year old Japanese festival held in Rikuzentakata on August 7th. Board member, Aki Downing, and her family are visiting RT and had the great experience of participating in the festival.

Board member Aki Downing is staying in Rikizentakata! She is doing important work connecting with people in Rikuzentakata. She and her husband Chris shared information about our local Yurok tribe. The meeting was VERY well attended and was featured on Japan's National News!

Once again the community came together to create a special Kamome Festival. We thank everyone who made this a very special event!
Our Rikuzentakata delegation let us know how special you made them all feel and they truly consider themselves part of our community.
While there are many community representatives who participated, none of it could have happened without the professionalism and dedication of Crescent City CA - City Hall. Kelly Schellong Feola, Bridget Lacey, Erik Wier, and the city staff. Thank you for your partnership with our foundation. We are truly blessed to have this partnership!
