We remember the 49 lives taken, the survivors, their loved ones, and the community forever changed by that night.

As we honor their memory, we recommit ourselves to the work that remains, building a safer, more inclusive world where everyone can live, love, gather, and belong without fear.

Gone, but never forgotten.

Juneteenth commemorates June 19, 1865, when enslaved Black people in Galveston, Texas, were finally informed of their freedom, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation. Today, it serves as both a remembrance of that history and a celebration of Black life, culture, and liberation.
