The Youth Entrepreneurship Program is getting ready to sell at next Wednesday’s Downtown Crescent City Farmers Market!

Over the past four weeks, Del Norte County students in grades 6–12 have learned about gardening, food safety, financial literacy, and entrepreneurship through hands-on activities at the Crescent Elk School Garden.

This past Wednesday, students participated in a mock farmers market day where they harvested produce, washed and bundled vegetables, set up a market stand, and practiced selling to customers.

On Wednesday June 17, they will put their skills into action at the Downtown Crescent City Farmers Market, where they will sell the produce they have grown and gain real-world business experience. Be sure to stop by the market and support these young entrepreneurs!

The second Downtown Crescent City Farmers Market of the season is just 2 days away, and we can’t wait to do it all again!

Our opening market was incredible—fresh local produce and plant starts, local eggs and beef, delicious prepared foods, live music, community connections, and so many smiling faces. Thank you to everyone who came out and helped make the first market such a success.

Join us this Wednesday and support local farmers, ranchers, food producers, artisans, and small businesses while enjoying everything the market has to offer.

Did you know that the Food Forest at the College of the Redwoods is a Certified Wildlife Habitat and Monarch Waystation?

On May 8th, we welcomed a local homeschool group for a field trip filled with hands-on learning and exploration throughout the Food Forest. Students participated in a scavenger hunt searching for different critters and signs of wildlife, learned how to transplant seedlings into hugelbeds, and explored the many plants, habitats, and ecosystems found throughout the space.

The Food Forest offers opportunities for community members of all ages to connect with nature, learn about sustainable growing practices, and experience the importance of creating spaces that support pollinators and local wildlife.
