💙 South Granville Rotary Club: We Love a Good Party — and Giving Back Too!

Our club knows how to have fun and make a difference! In October, we packed birthday boxes for the ACIM Food Pantry in Oxford, helping families celebrate special days with a few extra treats. 🎂

We also brought the Halloween spirit to our meeting with the Rotary District 7710 District Governor, Lisa Higginbotham — costumes, laughter, and lots of Rotary fellowship!

As we head into the holidays, stay tuned for our next community project: Holiday Gift Bags for Senior Citizens. It’s one of our favorite traditions and a meaningful way to share joy with those who’ve given so much to our community. More information to come soon🎁

This season, we also honor the memory of our dear friend and fellow Rotarian Lori Scappino. Lori loved a great gathering and had a special way of making everyone feel welcome. Her warmth, laughter, and generous heart will always be part of our Rotary family. 💛

Awesome news! A huge thank you to all who made our recent Rise Against Hunger event a massive success. Looking forward to next year's event on SATURDAY JANUARY 31ST. We cannot do this without you. Please consider volunteering and making a cash donation to this event so that we can pack even more meals. Next year's goal is 17000 meals. That requires at least 7000 dollars to purchase the ingredients and supplies to package the meals at just 43 cents per meal.
Our meals packaged at your Rise Against Hunger Experience have shipped.
At this moment, healthy meals are on their way to a community in urgent need of nutrition. We are excited to share that destination with you. (Drumroll, please!)

The meals we packaged are headed to the Philippines!

The Philippines consists of over 7,000 islands in the Ring of Fire in the Pacific Ocean. One of the most environmentally disaster prone countries in the world, it faces near constant threats of natural disasters like earthquakes, typhoons and volcanic eruptions. These disasters cause displacement and major loss of livelihoods and infrastructure, and disproportionately affect poor communities in rural areas, where people rely on agriculture and fishing. The Global Hunger Index, which assesses food insecurity based on indicators that measure undernourishment and undernutrition, categorizes the Philippines as having a moderate level of hunger overall. Rise Against Hunger serves the regions of the Philippines where hunger is most urgent.

To address some of the food security challenges that children, families, and communities in the Philippines face, Rise Against Hunger partners with organizations that support educational programs by providing meals to children at schools and early child development centers. This is a key part of Rise Against Hunger's Nourishing Lives pathway. In some cases, the food children receive at school will be the majority of the food they eat in a day. The meals you packaged will help ensure that children have access to the consistent nourishment they need to live healthy lives and successfully pursue their education. Read more about how your meals make an impact by checking out our Pathways to End Hunger!

Continue growing the movement:

Thank you again for volunteering your time. The impact we are making together starts with a meal and leads to resilient communities worldwide. Please consider continuing your journey to end hunger by donating to support sustainable solutions for communities like the ones your meals are serving.

On February first--just last weekend, South Granville Rotary Club sponsored their third Rise Against Hunger meal packing event. Many thanks to all of the 64 volunteers who donated their time on this beautiful Saturday morning to help us package 14,256 nutritionally complete meals to be delivered to communities in need around the world. Our club fell several hundred dollars short of our 6000 dollar fundraising goal for this event, but we are still forging ahead and have picked a day and a much more aggressive goal for next year's event. On January 31st, South Granville Rotary Club will sponsor their 4th meal packing event (location TBD) with financial goal of 7000 dollars. This will allow us to package about 16000 meals (in only 2 hours!). Please keep this date in mind for next year for both volunteering your time and considering a donation to this march to END HUNGER NOW.

Please don't forget to sign up for our Rise Against Hunger Event on February 1st at the South Granville Country Club. If you cannot attend, but still would like to help, please consider a donation to help us pack more meals. Each 95 dollars allows us to provide 216 more meals to end hunger now!

They may look like simple bags of rice and soy, but Rise Against Hunger meals represent the hopes and dreams of people worldwide. Sign Up Today!
