Established by the Lady Bird Johnson in 1987 to celebrate native wildflowers across the United States, this week is National Wildflower Week! Native wildflowers provide habitat for pollinators, help conserve water, reduce soil erosion, and enhance landscapes.

This week we want to encourage you to plant wildflower gardens, explore natural areas, and support native plant conservation.

Pictured is the Purple Coneflower (Echinacea purpurea)! They are native to eastern North America. You can find them in moist to dry open woods, meadows, prairies, and roadsides. Pollinators LOVE them and they are so beautiful!

Meet Lithobates sphenocephalus utricularius or the Coastal Plains Leopard Frog. 🐆🐸

It gets its name from the leopard like spots that will be on every one of these frogs. This native species is common throughout the state of Arkansas. They can be found in temporary ponds, woodland pools, wet meadows, and lake edges with dense plant life. Our Engage AR OCC crew was lucky to spot this little one at Lake Conway AR.

Our contribution to restoring this lake will provide more habitat for these loved natives. Click the link in the bio if you want to read more about this project.
