🚬 Cigarette butts don't belong in Wakulla's beauty spots—they belong in the trash! 🚮

On Saturday, and their families joined Keep Wakulla County Beautiful for the 2026 Greatest American Cleanup. While cleaning our adopted roadway, we collected multiple bags of litter, including far too many cigarette butts.

A cigarette butt may be small, but tossed on the ground, they add up fast. Help keep Wakulla beautiful: pocket it, trash it, or properly dispose of it—just don't toss it!

Together, we can keep our roadsides, waterways, and communities clean and beautiful for everyone. 🌎💙

What a Day!

Despite the summer heat, a lower turnout than we had hoped for, and a few vendors who didn’t make it, the Greatest American Cleanup Community Celebration was an absolute blast!

A huge shout-out to the vendors, exhibitors, and organizations who braved the heat and helped make the day a success:

Tail Waggin’ Toys
Florida DEP Recycling Crew
Wakulla Garden Club
Florida Department of Health To***co Prevention Program
Wakulla Environmental Institute
FCW Wrestling
Florida Wild Mammal Association
Sarracenia Chapter of the Florida Native Plant Society
Crystals Tie Dye
Designs by Robin
The Shack
Old South

And of course, a very special thank you to Keep Florida Beautiful for hosting the Hazardous Waste Relay Race. It was one of the highlights of the day and so much fun to watch, and participate in!

We also want to thank Commissioners Fred Nichols, Josh Lawhon, and Quincee Messersmith for being such great sports and taking their turns in the dunk tank. The smiles, laughter, and splashes made for some great memories!

Most importantly, thank you to the road adopters, volunteers, cleanup participants, raffle ticket purchasers, and everyone who came out to support the event and our efforts to make Wakulla County cleaner and more beautiful for America’s 250th Birthday.

So many people contributed their time and energy, but we’d like to give a special shout-out to Christina Sanabria for helping organize the event and bringing all the moving pieces together. Your hard work and dedication were instrumental in making the celebration happen.

Events like these remind us that success isn’t measured only by attendance numbers, it’s measured by community spirit, partnerships, and people willing to show up and make a difference.

Thank you, Wakulla County, for continuing to support Keep Wakulla County Beautiful and the Greatest American Cleanup. Together, we’re making our community shine! 🇺🇸
