Indiana Masonic Home Fire

Early this morning, a fire occurred at the Indiana Masonic Home at Compass Park, in the new Young’s Creek Two apartment building. A multi-jurisdictional response was needed. UPDATE: Funeral and Procession Details for Tech Sgt. Ashley Pruitt

BARDSTOWN, Ky. — City and county officials have released coordinated plans for the arrival, visitation, procession, and funeral services for Technical Sergeant Ashley Brook (Young) Pruitt, set to take place Thursday, April 9, through Saturday, April 11.

The joint statement comes from Bardstown Mayor J. Richard Heaton and Nelson County Judge-Executive Tim Hutchins, who said local law enforcement and government agencies are working together to ensure a respectful and orderly environment for the family and community.

Officials are warning residents to expect significant traffic delays and road closures throughout the weekend, as large crowds are anticipated. All times and logistics remain subject to change due to family needs, security considerations, or weather.

Thursday, April 9 – Arrival and Procession

✔ The aircraft carrying Ashley Pruitt is scheduled to arrive at the airport at 11:00 a.m., followed by a private family moment.
✔ The procession is expected to depart at approximately 11:15 a.m., traveling east on Hwy 62 toward Bardstown.
✔ A motorcade led by the Nelson County Sheriff’s Office will include family members, an estimated 300–500 motorcycles, military vehicles, and first responders.
✔ Traffic impacts will include westbound Hwy 62 being held at the new roundabout, along with multiple closures and holds along N. 3rd Street and Hwy 245 as the procession moves through Bardstown.
✔ Traffic will resume once the full procession has safely passed.

Friday, April 10 – Public Visitation

✔ Public visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., with a private family hour from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.
✔ Due to expected high attendance, overflow parking will be available at Thomas Nelson High School, with shuttle service running continuously to the funeral home.
✔ Sheriff’s deputies will monitor parking and direct traffic to overflow areas once the main lot is full.
✔ A strict “No Parking” zone will be enforced along Hwy 245, and any vehicles parked on the highway may be towed.

Saturday, April 11 – Funeral and Interment

✔ The funeral procession will depart from the funeral home at 10:00 a.m.
✔ The motorcade route will travel left on Hwy 245, right on Deatsville Loop, and right on Deatsville Connector to the church.
✔ The cemetery service is scheduled for 11:00 a.m., with overflow parking available in nearby fields adjacent to the cemetery.

Mayor Heaton and Judge Hutchins expressed appreciation to the public for their patience and cooperation, and asked the community to show respect and support for the Pruitt family during this time of remembrance.
