One Great Read is an initiative that reaches fourth graders in all Montgomery County schools - around 500 students each year!

This year's book was Crenshaw, a novel by Katherine Applegate. In this whimsical story about an imaginary friend, students get to explore the impact of poverty on family and community.

Thank you to all the fourth grade teachers who share this reading experience and related activities with our students!

Get those Teacher Grant proposals ready! 🧑‍🏫

The Montgomery County Educational Foundation was awarded $40,000 for teacher grants to encourage innovative educational projects in the three local public school corporations. Last year’s grants positively impacted 3,883 students, demonstrating the program’s significant educational reach and potential for enhancing student learning through creative teaching approaches. This award will help fund projects for the 2026-27 school year.
