What a weekend.

We saw close to 5 inches of rain over Memorial Day weekend, and by Sunday afternoon the Obey River was ready to burst. The mud was deep, everyone was soaked, and the conditions were as tough as we’ve ever faced.

But instead of breaking spirits, it brought out the very best in people.

What I witnessed at Jammin at Hippie Jacks was perseverance, kindness, patience, and open hearts everywhere I looked. From the staff and volunteers working nonstop in the rain, to every attendee who chose joy over frustration, y’all created something truly special.

From Thursday night’s open mic, to Paul Thorn dancing in the crowd Saturday night, to a full stage of talented musicians closing things out Sunday night… it was pure magic.

We also achieved a huge milestone by successfully executing FOUR live broadcasts on WCTE PBS during one of the hardest weather weekends we’ve ever had. I couldn’t be more proud.

I didn’t get many pictures because I spent most of the weekend covered in mud and rain trying to keep things moving, but I did manage to capture the infamous knot hole picture of Paul Thorn, and somehow it feels like the perfect memory from this beautiful, wild weekend.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you all. We learned a lot, we’ll keep improving, and we’ll come back even better.

And now… attention turns to a very exciting new opportunity for Jammin at Hippie Jacks. Stay tuned. Something big is coming.

Hey y'all, Carter here.

During the festival I had an idea. I wanted to make a folder to put all the photos I took during the festival. Then I had a better idea, let's make a folder for ALL OF OUR photos of the festival.

There were moments of adventure, community, music, biblical weather, triumph, and sacrifice. They should be documented and remembered.

So I made us a folder on google drive. Just follow that link and upload any pictures from that you want remembered.

Who knows we might make a compliation of our favorites.

If you’re headed to Jammin at Hippie Jacks today and have access to a 4-wheel drive, all-wheel drive, or really anything besides a rear-wheel drive truck… bring that instead!

It’s a wee bit muddy out here this morning. We’ll get everybody in, but a little extra traction is definitely your friend today.

On the eve of the 19th Jammin at Hippie Jacks Spring Festival, this memory popped up today… the setup day for the 5th festival.

A tarp stage, an old Humvee, a handful of dreams, and a whole lot of figuring it out as we went. At the time it felt like we were just trying to survive another year and make something special happen. Now looking back, it’s wild to realize we were building something that would last nearly two decades.

Seems like yesterday and a lifetime ago all at once. Grateful for every artist, volunteer, vendor, camper, friend, and believer that helped turn this little idea into a tradition.

Here’s to Year 19. ✌️
