Building community together.

With the support of we spent the day with the kids from La Palmilla, sharing the love of baseball and helping bring equipment and opportunities to these young players.

We even got to start a community project painting the field walls, creating a space the kids can feel proud of.

Together, we help their dreams grow. âšľ

Cassabe Experience (Local Food)

Take a trip. Change a life. 🌿

Yesterday the students from had the opportunity to experience how cassabe is traditionally made, a staple food in Dominican culture made from cassava.

Learning directly from the local community, seeing the process, and understanding the history behind this traditional “bread” was a beautiful cultural exchange.

Moments like this remind us how food connects people, stories, and traditions.

Grateful for the opportunity to learn from the local community and experience the richness of Dominican culture.

Ayer los estudiantes de Wheeler High School tuvieron la oportunidad de conocer cómo se prepara tradicionalmente el casabe, un alimento básico de la cultura dominicana hecho de yuca.

Aprender directamente de la comunidad local, ver el proceso y entender la historia detrás de este “pan” tradicional fue un hermoso intercambio cultural.

Momentos como este nos recuerdan cĂłmo la comida conecta personas, historias y tradiciones.

Agradecidos por la oportunidad de aprender de la comunidad local y experimentar la riqueza de la cultura dominicana.

There is no greater honor.

What I witnessed on this journey — your openness, your courage, your willingness to be present — was nothing short of transformational.

At Caritas, our promise is simple and sacred:
✨ service
✨ adventure
✨ wellness
✨ deep connection with community

You didn’t just visit a place.
You took a trip — and changed the lives of children and the communities they call home.
And in that exchange, I hope something shifted inside you too. đź’›

Thank you for the laughter that filled our days, the tears that reminded us of our humanity, and even the moments of discomfort that led us closer to truth. Joy and pain walked hand in hand — and that’s where real growth lives.

This journey was filled with firsts:
• The first group to stay in the Eco-Domes
• The first to step foot on Heart Goat Island
• The first group of Americans to visit San Rafael Church in El Palero
• The first to bring a medical clinic to Loma del Tanque

These moments will ripple far beyond us 🌊

And for me, this was a deeply personal first — my first time hosting a trip without my dear David. Your love, your presence, and your trust held me in ways you may never fully know.

Thank you for being part of my dash — the space between where we begin and how we choose to live.

Our first community outreach in Loma del Tanque 🤍

Together with our partner organization , Dr. , and local artist and painter , we launched our first outreach program at Eco Domes Caritas, caring for and uplifting the local community.

Through play, music, art, and shared moments, we created memories rooted in connection, creativity, and love in action.

Thank you to our incredible volunteers for the time, energy, and love you poured into this community today. Your hearts made all the difference.

Last night in Loma del Tanque, Monción 🇩🇴 — we witnessed true riches. ✨

A hidden gem where nature is breathtaking,
but the greatest wealth lives in the hearts and laughter of children.

Last night, the children gifted Caritas Smile something priceless:
their joy, their presence, and a sacred reminder that
đź’› time and attention given from the heart are riches that multiply.

We painted together.
We shared marshmallows under the open sky.
Music wasn’t coming from speakers—
it was the sound of children’s laughter echoing through the hills.

The entire community came out to help, to celebrate, to be present.
✨ And for the very first time, holiday lights were turned on.
In that glow, something deeper happened—
love healed, hearts softened, and hope took root.

Because love heals—
it heals communities,
it heals memories,
and it reminds us that we belong to one another.

We cannot wait to welcome our January service travelers
to continue sharing love with the children of El Palero—
showing up heart first, hands open.

This is Love in Action.
