Last month, our CEO, Jake Bissaillon, joined United in 401 on WPRO to discuss the far-reaching impact of Justice Assistance services across Rhode Island. Jake was honored to share the spotlight with Lisa Guillette, Executive Director of Foster Forward.

Hosted by Cortney Nicolato, President and CEO of@United Way of Rhode Island, the program explored how Justice Assistance and Foster Forward support in the areas of housing, child welfare, foster care, and other critical areas.

We’re grateful for opportunities like this to raise awareness about the work being done to support individuals, families, and communities throughout our state.

Congratulations to Christopher and Mocorah on successfully completing their internship with the Rhode Island Traffic Tribunal!

As two of the youngest members of Justice Assistance, Christopher and Mocorah gained valuable firsthand experience by observing traffic court hearings, assisting judicial officers with calendar preparation, and learning from court clerks about the essential functions of the judiciary. Their internship culminated in a mock DUI trial, giving them the opportunity to apply their knowledge in a hands-on setting.

Reflecting on the experience, Christopher shared:

“I was able to learn how Magistrates make their judicial decisions and the grace they provide while working toward fair resolutions. Those insights are something I will bring into my future career.”

Mocorah added:

“Bringing the mock trial idea to fruition for the first time was an unforgettable experience that made me proud of my initiative and fueled my passion for advocacy.”

We are proud of their accomplishments and look forward to seeing all they achieve in the future!

🎊 We're excited to celebrate the success of our Restaurant Ready participants! 🎊

Restaurant Ready, Justice Assistance's newest program, prepares clients for careers in hospitality and the food and beverage industry. Last week, every participant successfully completed the program and is now preparing for job interviews.

Our team had a great time at National Night Out in East Providence earlier this week! We enjoyed connecting with local vendors and residents and sharing information about the services available through Justice Assistance, including our monthly Expungement Clinics and access to our health clinic, JA Health & Wellness.
