Access to Otter Springs from Crandon summer 2025: Starting Monday May 19th Highway 8 will be undergoing a major construction project and will be closed. Good news is that there is an alternate route to get to Otter Springs when coming from Crandon. That route is shared below. Please be aware of the speed limits through this area and abide by them as there will likely be increased traffic through here.

Coming from Laona will still be open, there will be road closes signs, but the closure is after Otter Creek Rd.

Trail Status: Open with a re-route. First off, thanks to over 50 hours of volunteer time, all the downed trees from our ice storm this winter have been cleared from the trail. Shout out to Gene, Kain, Tyler, Rich, Aedyn, Chris, Candace, and Kyle for their efforts to get the trail open!

With the highway 8 road project this summer, the first segment of trail had to be sacrificed. We are running a temporary re-route for the summer until we can reconnect our trail after the project is complete. The map on our website, www.fcasatrails.com has been updated and a screenshot is pictured below. The re-route is marked with signs reading "Special Event Route"

We will be working on a new trail flow pattern at the end of The Spine. Currently The Spine still dumps out onto the two track trail. This can currently be ridden as it always has, but that construction will start soon and signage will be put up for your safety.

We still have snow on the ground up here in Forest County. We likely will have a lot of storm cleanup to complete this spring. We'll assess it and try to plan a work day. We will also provide update to accessibility and temporary trail route changes due to major highway project this summer.

The trail was pristine today! Get out and ride it tomorrow, might be the last chance. I would not recommend riding in from the first parking lot. That is very icy. Go to the main parking lot and take the yellow trail from the map sign and take the first left onto the singletrack connector.

Hey hey! Otter Springs singletrack is groomed and ready to ride! That is as long as you keep your front tire on the trail 🤭 It's still a little soft so low pressure is needed. Please only ride in the mornings during this warm up though. Enjoy! The ski trails are also groomed and can be ridden on fat bikes, jouring with dogs, sled dogs, snowshoes, etc.

Update, trail is fully clear and ready to ride! Please keep the forecast in mind as rain could make the ground even softer. Normally it sheds the rain fine, but early season conditions are different. Enjoy!
