This πŸ‘‡πŸ‘‡πŸ‘‡

This to me is the most unacceptable behavior in a horse. Pinning ears almost constantly and even swishing his tail to warn of a potential kick.

Some owners believe it truly doesn’t mean anything when they do it constantly when actually this is him trying to assert dominance and be the boss in our relationship.

Choice is in his 20s. He’s pushy when you enter his paddock especially when he knows you have his breakfast or supper. He pins his ears almost constantly and in fact today he even swung his head at me when I was checking his weight across his ribs. He was reprimanded for this behavior.

This can quickly turn into an actual bite or an actual kick quickly.

I have been working with him on this behavior almost daily however it is such an ingrained habit of his that we may never see a πŸ’―correction to this behavior but hopefully enough improvement that I won’t have to watch him like a hawk every time I’m near him.

He is a sanctuary so this attitude luckily won’t be passed onto a new owner.

He does also have some back pain behind his wither which can contribute to this type of attitude. So I will be reaching out to our chiropractor to see if we can get him adjusted before winter. He also started DAC coolguts for potential ulcer issues because as a tb that’s always at the top of my list.

So if anyone wants to donate a bucket of DAC coolguts off our chewy or Amazon wishlist it would be greatly appreciated β™₯️
