This one makes us pretty proud. “Happy” was the first born of the winter kidding season, and we knew we loved him right away. He and Frankie Counts had a great day in Duchesne, UT yesterday at the Freak Show jackpot, bringing home Reserve Champion ‘Bred & Owned’ against some extremely talented young people with impressive breeding programs. We do what we do because we love it, but it’s nice to get some outside validation to remind us that all the years of hard work put into building a solid, reasonable program is working.

Why BAR -V- BAR?

The story behind our brand started about 100 years ago with John and Marguerite Vaos. The -V- sheep & goat brand graced the backs of countless sheep throughout Routt, Moffat, and Rio Blanco counties over the years, and it has made its way down 5 generations under the stewardship of the hard-working and smart women in our family. Marguerite passed the brand to her daughter Mary, Mary to her daughter Rose, and Rose (through her oldest son, Frank) to her grand-daughter Francesca Counts.

For us, the -V- brand represents resilience, adaptability, resourcefulness, and the reminder that sometimes the greatest strength comes from the most unexpected places (and people!). These are the ethos that we wish to continue to pass on through our family and the community of families we are blessed to work with.
