At our course near Jackson, Wyoming, this spring, Keep Fish Wet’s Sascha Clark Danylchuk showed guides several methods for assessing the health of fish. Hatchery trout were used, and this field experience was connected to classroom instruction related to fish health and survival post-catch.

Fly fishing guides all have a responsibility to support fish health. At the Guiding for the Future course in Jackson, Wyoming, this spring, Keep Fish Wet’s Sascha Clark Danylchuk demonstrated how to best assess fish heath through a variety of tests that guides can employ while on the water.

OPINION: Clients look to outdoor guides for local knowledge, expertise on a sport and safety. Whether newbies getting started or grizzled veterans, guides should be saluted for keeping their skills, knowledge and professionalism continually sharpened.
