Yesterday we had the privilege to honor the life and nursing career of Fama Thompson Greer from Kings Mountain, KY. Fama loved being a nurse and caring for others but her greatest joy came from raising her children and grandchildren.

Today we had the privilege of honoring our friend and colleague, Betty Grimes. Betty not only dedicated her life to the service of others as a nurse but also as a Veteren of the United States Navy where she actively served as a nurse during the Vietnam Era. Betty was a member of the Association of Operating Room Nurses and a nationally certified nurse in the OR. Betty retired from Ephraim McDowell Fort Logan Hospital where she touched many lives and left wonderful memories for those who knew and loved her.

Today we had the privelege to honor the nursing career of Stephanie Murray. Stephanie knew at a very young age that her life calling was to be a nurse... to serve and care for others. Stephanie was currently employed by Cross Country Medical Staffing as a travel nurse on the Covid-19 unit before becoming ill with the corona virus herself. Stephanie selflessly gave her life while serving others during this pandemic.

Martha “Marty” Tankersley Tribute
February 18, 1957-August 9, 2021

Yesterday we had the privilege to honor the nursing career of Marty Tankersley. Marty graduated from nursing school in April of 1978. Marty’s first nursing job was at Garrad Memorial Hospital. Marty started her nursing journey with Ephraim McDowell Health in 1996 and served EMH until her retirement in 2015. Marty was known to always have a kind smile, a compassionate heart and to never complain no matter what nursing task was asked of her.
“Well done, my good and faithful servant”! Mathew 25:23

If I can stop one heart from breaking,
I shall not live in vain;
If I can ease one life the aching,
Or cool one pain,
Or help one fainting robin
Unto his nest again,
I shall not live in vain.
