Paw Prints in Dawson County

Paw Prints in Dawson County We are a group of animal lovers here to educate the public on the importance of spaying and neutering pets. Paw Prints is a 501 (c ) 3 corporation.

Paw Prints was formed in January of 2015 by a group of people who wanted to stop the overpopulation of animals in Dawson County. We want the end result to be a noticeable reduction in the population of unwanted or feral pets and domesticated animals in Dawson County. To accomplish this, we have implemented a spay/neuter program and assisted in finding homes for animals. We are a non-profit organiz

ation made up of volunteers who receive no monetary value for helping the animals. We all work together to better the lives of the animals because each and every one of them deserve love. We rely solely on fundraising and donations to exist. We do not have an animal shelter and are not affiliated with one. If you'd like to make a financial contribute, you can find us on Venmo .

Cozad residents ! Have recently been told that there’s a rumor going around the Horizon Mobile Home Park that the upcoming ā€œcat trappingā€ will result in the cats and kitties being put down. That rumor is 100% FALSE !!!
What’s going to happen is this -
All feral cats that are able to get spayed or nuetered will get just that, along with health check ups, rabies vaccinations and microchipped, then they will be released in the EXACT same location they were trapped in !!
That’s their home !!
Any kittens will be the same unless they’re tame enough to be adopted into loving homes.
If you have a cat or cats in the area that are your personal pet we ask you to do the following;
Put a break away collar on your pet so IF they are caught they can be released right away. If you don’t have a break away collar please msg me and we will get you how many you need.
It’s also a good idea to take a current photo of each one and you can send the photo to me via messenger.
The object of this trapping is to begin to control the population and health issues of the feral cats in your area ! Nothing more.
If you need help w the cost of getting your cat spayed or nuetered will, contact me.
This is 100% for the benefit of the animals nothing more.

Hi everyone my name is LuLu I was born march 26,2025 , my breeds are anyone’s guess at this point.
I’m in need of a family of my own. We are working on potty training and leash walking .
Am being exposed to other dogs and cats so I’m good with both. And of course I love active children to play with !
My foster mom thinks I’m pretty smart and I listen pretty good to what she says.
I’ll be getting my first vet visit this week to make sure I’m healthy ( but I already know I am šŸ™‚. )
I’m located in cozad.
Would you like to make me a part of your family ? If you do just send a dm and my foster mom will respond.

Because some dog breeds look so much alike I feel safe in sharing a photo. At the moment tho I will refer to the dog as ā€œITā€ as a name can give away a s*x of it. The dog pictured is ā€œITā€ at least for now. I got a call to go see about ā€œITā€ as it was laying off the highway in deep grass, not really able to move much, appeared on the outside to have possible been hit, broken leg or hip. We were able to get about 5’ from its original spot when it laid down again and refused to get up.
Luckily the person that contacted me was just down the road and was able to come help. I’ve NEVER and I mean NEVER heard a dog scream in pain the way it did getting it to the car. Such sorrow in those big brown eyes just takes at your heart.
My vet was out wouldn’t be back for at least 3 hours and I wasn’t willing to attempt to move him so we went to Burger King where he got 5 plain cheese burgers and a large water , no ice and waited for time to go by.
When it was time we drove to the vet as he laid in my backseat, I was
EXTREMLY shocked when ā€œitā€ was at the door waiting to get out, it had to p*e and p*e NOW !
This big gentle soul managed to jump out of the car,do its thing then very slowly make it into the vet.
After first examination and not feeling anything broken, ex rays were next😢 ! My vet was shocked as on the screen in black and white where thousands upon thousands of of what dots that peppered the left side….BUCKSHOT !! 2 more ex rays checking the entire body and again more spots. ā€œITā€ had marks from the tip of its tongue to the tip of its tail ( I’m kicking myself for not taking photos of the ex rays for proof )
All the marks have healed over leaving its body a bumpy path, the issues of want wanting to walk is because ITs paw is 2x the size it should be, the paw looked like a pin cushion literally.
Next we get to deal with possible lead poisoning in ā€œITā€, there’s no way what so ever to remove all the metal balls inside him 😢.
Huge thank you to Stockade Vet Clinic in Farnam for always being there when we need them, no matter what time it is .
If you’d like to contribute to ā€œITsā€ vet bill you can do so by calling the clinic at 308-569-2360 and telling Marilyn you’d like to put a donation to PawPrints account.
