Our Story

Our mission is to provide educational enrichment opportunities for women and children to spark and embrace an appreciation of our world, oneself, and most importantly each other. Our vision is to connect children to their food, to promote healthy nutrition, and to nurture, embrace, and respect the environment. The World of Wonder Foundation does this through:

LEGACY GARDEN PROJECT

The WOW Legacy Garden Project was established by Jacqueline "Jinx" Vidrine, Ph.D., to provide grants that bring together master gardeners, teachers, parents and students to plant vegetables in public schools and community gardens. Any public school, PTA or nonprofit organization is eligible for a community garden grant. You can sponsor a Legacy Garden for only $250 And the Jinx Vidrine Legacy Foundation will match your donation.

WOW HEADSTART SUMMER CAMP

We provide a safe, fun educational environment for 3 to 5-year olds at HeadStart sites. This camp also provides a community solution for working parents. Sponsors like you provide scholarship funds which allow parents to only pay half the cost of the program.

WOW ENRICHMENT SUMMER CAMP PROGRAM

This program touches the lives of over 1,000 underprivileged children in St. Tammany Parish. Certified teachers provide creative educational programs that awaken children to the wonders of the world. Presently we serve the YMCA, Upward Community Services, the Covington and Slidell Boys and Girls Club and First Pentecostal Church Camp. More lives could be touched if additional funding can be secured for supplies, field trips, speakers, teacher salaries, and scholarships. For only $200 you can open the World of Wonder to a child and we will MATCH your donation!

LIFE SKILLS/EMPOWERMENT CAMP

Developing practical life skills is the focus for teenagers in this program. From caulking to cooking, the emphasis is placed on how to navigate the basics of life.

WOW Foundation also is involved in many ongoing projects and funding initiative which support our mission such as: World Map Project, Operation Underwear, Put Your Best Foot Forward, Little Lending Libraries and Teacher Scholarships.
