Some of the most life-changing moments happen where no one else is watching.

It’s the caregiver helping someone learn a new skill.

The DSP who shows up every day with patience and consistency.

The volunteer who makes sure someone feels included.

The advocate who sits through meetings, paperwork, and phone calls because giving up isn’t an option.

The parent who stays awake worrying.

The friend who keeps showing up.

The victories aren’t always loud.

Sometimes they’re a first job.
A first friendship.
A successful community outing.
A new level of independence.

At A Mustard Seed Outreach, we believe those moments matter.

Because every seed planted with love, support, and opportunity has the potential to grow into something beautiful. 🌱

We tried to get a picture of Lizzie at the golf tournament yesterday.

This was the best one. 😂💙

The truth is, sometimes the world feels a little too big. Too loud. Too bright. Too overwhelming.

And while most people see a hand over her face, we see something else.

We see a young woman who showed up anyway.

We see courage.

We see growth.

We see someone who continues to step into community even on the days when it isn’t easy.

At A Mustard Seed Outreach, we’re constantly reminded that success doesn’t always look the way people expect it to. Sometimes success is participating. Sometimes it’s staying. Sometimes it’s simply trying.

And those victories deserve to be celebrated too.

Because every person matters. Every step matters. Every seed matters. 🌱💙

💙✨ A Day of Service, Inclusion, and Community ✨💙

Today, we had the opportunity to volunteer at the 2nd Annual Shelby Shines On Foundation, Inc. Golf Tournament, and what a beautiful reminder of what community is all about.

At A Mustard Seed Outreach, we believe every individual deserves meaningful opportunities to contribute, connect, and be seen for their abilities—not their limitations. Watching our members serve alongside others, build relationships, and be active participants in their community is exactly why we do what we do.

Inclusion isn’t just inviting someone to the table—it’s making sure they have a seat, a voice, and a purpose.

Thank you to the Shelby Shines On Foundation for creating spaces where everyone can shine. 🌱💙

🌱 The Numbers Behind the Need

1 in 4 Americans is a family caregiver.

Only 22.8% of people with disabilities are employed.

The unemployment rate for people with disabilities is nearly double that of those without disabilities.

75% of people with disabilities are not participating in the labor force.

Millions of adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities still face barriers to housing, transportation, employment, and community inclusion.

Thousands of aging parents and caregivers lie awake at night wondering what will happen to their loved one when they can no longer provide care.

These aren’t just statistics.

They’re sons and daughters.
They’re brothers and sisters.
They’re neighbors.
They’re friends.

They’re people who deserve the same opportunities, dignity, relationships, and sense of belonging that so many of us take for granted.

At A Mustard Seed Outreach, we believe inclusion isn’t charity—it’s community.

And every seed planted today has the power to change a life tomorrow. 🌱❤️

Watching friendships grow is one of our favorite parts of this work.

Not because these friendships are perfect—they’re not. 😂

These two fuss, argue, and occasionally drive each other crazy.

But they also show up for each other.

And that’s what matters.

So many of the families we serve tell us the same thing: services are important, but what their loved one really wants is friendship. Someone to text. Someone to sit with at lunch. Someone excited to see them walk through the door.

Everyone deserves that.

Everyone deserves to belong.

And seeing friendships like this reminds me why building community will always be at the heart of what we do. ❤️🌱

There are a whole lot of late night teary-eyed phone calls behind this mission.

Families exhausted.
Burnt out.
Scared.
Trying to figure out what happens when their child with special needs ages out of the school system and suddenly the support gets real quiet.

“What resources are even out there?”
“How do we afford this?”
“Who is going to help?”
“What happens when I’m gone?”

And sometimes…they aren’t even asking for huge things.
Sometimes it’s help finding bedding.
A safe room opening.
Transportation.
Community outings.
Someone to return the call.
Someone willing to listen.
Someone who understands.

People don’t always see this side of advocacy work.
But it matters.

A Mustard Seed Outreach exists because no family should have to navigate this kind of overwhelm alone.

We may not be able to fix everything overnight…but we can keep showing up, loving people well, and helping carry the weight however we can 🌱🤍

Today we remember the brave souls who laid down their lives in service to our country.
Their sacrifice is woven into the freedoms we experience every single day.

As we gather with family and friends this Memorial Day, may we also pause with grateful hearts to honor those who never made it home… and the families who continue carrying that loss.

At A Mustard Seed Outreach, we believe love is shown through remembrance, compassion, service, and community.

May we never forget the cost of freedom. ❤️🤍💙

“Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” — John 15:13

Not every victory is measured in gold. 🥈

Sometimes the real win is showing up, trusting your teammates, pushing through nerves, encouraging each other, and walking off that court knowing you gave it your all.

Jordan and his volleyball team did exactly that this weekend at Special Olympics State Games and brought home SILVER! We are so proud of every athlete, coach, and supporter who made this moment possible.

The joy on these courts always reminds us what true community looks like. 💚✨

Today was one of those reminders of why we do what we do. 💜

Purple Heat brought home GOLD at Special Olympics State Games today, but the medal is only part of the story.

The real victory is watching individuals be seen, celebrated, included, encouraged, and empowered to shine exactly as they are. Watching confidence grow. Watching friendships deepen. Watching families cheer with tears in their eyes.

This is what community looks like.
This is what belonging looks like.

So proud of these athletes and everyone who walks beside them supporting opportunities like this. The impact reaches so much further than one competition floor.

Gold medals and even bigger hearts. 💜🥇🔥
