🎓 Scholarship Opportunity for Newton County Seniors!
The Newton County Historic Committee on Black Heritage Preservation is proud to offer our 2026 Scholarship to graduating seniors in Newton County who are committed to academic excellence and community awareness.
📚 Eligibility:
✔ Senior at Alcovy, Newton, or Eastside High School
✔ 3.0 GPA or higher
✔ Resident of Newton County (30014, 30015, 30016, 30054, 30056, 30070)
📝 Application Requirements:
• Completed application
• Two letters of recommendation (Public Service & School Counselor/Educator)
• 500-word essay
• Transcript & SAT/ACT scores
• College acceptance letter
• Photo

What is the most significant issue currently affecting Newton County, and why should it be a priority for the community to address?

The Newton County Historical Committee on Black Heritage Preservation is proud to announce the 2026 Scholarship opportunity for graduating seniors in Newton County. Eligible students must attend Alcovy, Eastside, or Newton High School and plan to continue their education at a four-year college or university, technical college, or trade school. Applicants must have a minimum 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale and reside in zip codes 30014, 30015, 30016, 30054, 30056, or 30070. To apply, students must submit the following: a copy of transcript and SAT or ACT scores, two letters of recommendation (including one from a public service representative and one from a high school counselor or educator), a copy of acceptance letter from a college, university, or trade school, a recent photograph, and a typed essay (no more than 500 words) entitled 'In your opinion, what is the most significant community issue currently affecting Newton County, and why do you believe this problem deserves priority attention?' Applications must be submitted via email to [email protected] by April 1, 2026, at 11:59 PM EST. This scholarship supports students who demonstrate academic commitment, community awareness, and a desire to make a positive impact. We encourage all eligible seniors to apply and take the next step toward their future.
