If you’ve ever had a child attend the Washington Street Community Center, then you know just how vital Mrs. Bea Jackson has been to this organization and to our community. Her dedication, love, and steady presence shaped generations. This honor is truly well deserved.

It was a privilege to honor our Living Legends individuals who have poured so much into our community through service, leadership, and a commitment to education. Your impact is felt throughout Newton County, and we thank you for all you have done and continue to do.

Congratulations to our scholarship recipients! We are proud of you and excited to see all that you will accomplish. Know that we are praying for your success as you continue your educational journeys.

It was especially inspiring to see our scholarship recipients, community leaders, organizations, families, and supporters come together in celebration. Seeing multiple generations represented reminds us why preserving our history and investing in our future matters.

A special thank you to my Co-Chair, Chanci Shy, for your dedication and countless hours of work behind the scenes. I truly could not have done it without you. Thank you also to our President, Terry James, for your leadership, diligence, and commitment to our mission.

To our Title Sponsor, Young-Levett Funeral Home, thank you for being our first donor and believing in our vision. Because of your generosity, we were able to award $5,500 in scholarships to eight deserving recipients.

For nearly a quarter of a century, Mrs.Bea Jackson has been a steady force of hope, guidance, and encouragement for the youth of Newton County. Her passion for service and her belief in the potential of every young person have shaped our community in ways that words can barely capture.
After 24 years of tireless dedication, Mrs.Bea is stepping into retirement a new chapter she has more than earned. Though she may be closing this professional chapter, the impact of her work will continue to echo through the lives she touched and the futures she helped build.
