Horizon Community Foundation of Northern Kentucky

Horizon Community Foundation of Northern Kentucky At Horizon Community Foundation, we do the kinds of things a typical community foundation would do, in a very untypical way.

We strive to raise the quality of life for all people in our NKY community because we are proud to call this unique region home. Horizon Community Foundation of Northern Kentucky brings people together to donate and contribute in ways that have never been available before, to combine their resources to help break the cycle of poverty, support the arts, spark development and innovation, enrich our

children’s education, and improve the health and wellness of our community. This is a community foundation designed to manage funds exclusively for the benefit of Northern Kentucky, and you now have an opportunity to become a part of it. When we join forces we can exponentially expand Northern Kentucky’s horizon and advance the vibrant and vital facets of our community – the people, the places, the cultural institutions, and the services – that make us proud to call this our home.

In the latest episode of Common Good for the Common Wealth, Nancy Grayson talks with Cheye Calvo, President & CEO of Educate NKY, about the bigger picture of education in Northern Kentucky—and why collaboration will be key to building a stronger future for our region.

Horizon Community Foundation is proud to award its 2026 Community Impact Fund grant of $115,000 to the Northern Kentucky Social Services Transformation Project, a regional collaboration led by the Safety Net Alliance of Northern Kentucky, with the Northern Kentucky Area Development District serving as fiscal agent.

The project brings together Brighton Center, Faith Community Health Network, Fiesta NKY, Gateway Community & Technical College, Erlanger-Elsmere Independent School District, United Way of Greater Cincinnati in NKY and others to create a more connected social service network.

Episode 10 of Common Good for the Common Wealth is here!

What happens when improving education becomes the responsibility of an entire community—not just its schools?

In our 10th episode, Nancy Grayson sits down with Cheye Calvo, President & CEO of Educate NKY, to explore what it takes to improve outcomes for children and families across Northern Kentucky. They discuss early learning, family engagement, school innovation, community partnerships, career pathways, and the opportunities emerging across our River Cities.

At the heart of the conversation is a simple idea: when children thrive, communities thrive.
