From “Could this really be possible?” to HOMEOWNER! 🏡🔑 Gabrielle officially closed and received the keys to her first home!

When she first discovered Housing Opportunities of Northern Kentucky through some online research, she admits it seemed almost too good to be true. But after learning more about HONK and working with our team, she knew she had found an opportunity worth pursuing.

Gabrielle has been putting in the hard work for this moment: building her career, earning her degree, taking on additional hours, and making intentional decisions about her future. With her rent set to increase, she knew she wanted her monthly investment to go toward something of her own. And now, that dream is a reality.

Together, you’ll build a budget that actually works for your life. You’ll look at income, bills, groceries, transportation, savings, and everyday spending. And yes—we believe life should still have room for the occasional coffee, birthday celebration, or small treat. A successful budget isn’t about perfection. It’s about creating habits you can actually sustain.

Over a 12 to 18 month period, Gina helps clients navigate challenges, improve credit, strengthen financial confidence, and prepare for the responsibilities of homeownership. Every step builds toward one goal: owning the home you’re already living in.

Discipline becomes confidence. Confidence becomes stability. And stability becomes homeownership!

125 homeowners have already achieved that dream through HONK’s lease-to-own program, and each story started with a single first step.

As we continue to move our mission forward in 2026, we’re taking a moment to reflect on what we accomplished together in the past year and a half.

In 2025, HONK celebrated 7 new homeowners, completed 8 home rehabs, welcomed 15 households into our lease-to-own program, and continued creating pathways to stable, affordable homeownership for families across Northern Kentucky.

We’re proud of what we accomplished together and grateful to the volunteers, donors, partners, and homeowners who made it possible.

Join AmeriCorps and make a lasting impact with HONK!
We’re looking for one full-time AmeriCorps Member to help coordinate volunteers and rehabilitate homes for low-income families. Starting 9/1, you’ll receive an estimated $2,000/month living allowance, basic healthcare during your year of service, and a $7,445 Education Award upon successful completion of 1,700 hours. The award can be used toward student loans, continuing education, or transferred to children or grandchildren.
This one-year, full-time service opportunity is made possible through our partnership with the Homeless and Housing Coalition of Kentucky. If you’re passionate about serving your community and making a difference, we’d love to hear from you.

Open 10am-4pm (last entry at 3pm) There is a suggested $15 donation per person that directly benefits our homeownership program.
