⚾ Regarding Our Fall Ball Decision ⚾

We understand the concerns that have been expressed regarding the decision to cancel Fall Ball, and we want to provide some additional clarification.

We recognize that registration was originally intended to open July 1 and did not open on schedule, which shortened the registration period and is something we will work to improve going forward. However, at the time the decision was made, we did not have enough registered players to field even one complete team in each of our three age groups. While registration was technically still open, the Board had to evaluate the numbers we had alongside the condition of our facilities and the amount of work required before another season. Even with additional registrations, we would have needed enough players not only to complete teams in all three divisions, but ultimately enough participation to create a viable Fall Ball program.

We also want to clarify that this decision was not about needing Fall Ball registration money to fund field improvements. The biggest need right now is time. After reviewing the condition the fields and facilities were left in, there is an extensive amount of maintenance, repair, cleanup, and preparation that needs to be completed. Giving our volunteers that time now puts us in a much better position going into the spring season.

As we recently posted, we have coordinated with Williamsport Little League, and they have confirmed that they have room for Covington players who still want to play baseball this fall. Our goal was to make sure that even though we could not support our own Fall Ball program, families still have an option for their children to continue playing baseball this fall.

For families looking for another fall sports opportunity, football registration is also still open, and practices have only recently started.

We recognize that not everyone will agree with this decision, and we respect that. After reviewing our registration numbers, the condition of the fields and facilities, and the alternatives available for our players, the Board was unanimous that cancelling Fall Ball was the best decision for Covington Youth Baseball at this time.

Our responsibility is not only to provide opportunities to play today, but also to make decisions that put the league, our facilities, and most importantly our players in the best position moving forward.

⚾ A Note About Our Fall Ball Decision ⚾

We want everyone to know that the decision to cancel Fall Ball this year was not made lightly. A great deal of thought and consideration went into determining what would be best for our players, families, and the league as a whole.

The biggest factor was registration numbers within each age division. Unfortunately, we did not have enough players in any division to field more than one team. This would make it extremely difficult to provide the type of meaningful and competitive Fall Ball season we want for our players.

We also explored the possibility of participating with other area leagues. However, our numbers in each age group were not enough to build a complete Covington team that we could send and compete together as a whole.

We have reached out to Williamsport, and they have confirmed that they do have room to accept additional players for Fall Ball. For families whose players would still like the opportunity to play this fall, we encourage you to consider registering with Williamsport.

We understand the disappointment that comes with this decision, especially for the kids who were excited to get back on the field. We share that disappointment, but we believe this is the most responsible decision for our league based on the participation we received.

We truly appreciate everyone’s understanding and continued support of Covington Youth Baseball. We’ll use this time to make needed improvements to our facilities and prepare for a great Spring 2027 season! ⚾

⚾ Fall Ball Refund Update ⚾

We wanted to provide a quick update regarding our Fall Ball cancellation.

All Fall Ball refunds have now been processed. Please keep in mind that the time it takes for the refund to appear in your account will depend on your bank or card issuer’s individual processing timeline.

We sincerely appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding. Thank you for your continued support of Covington Youth Baseball and our players! ⚾

We look forward to seeing everyone back at the ballpark!

After careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision not to hold a Fall Ball season this year.

This was not an easy decision, but it was made after evaluating several factors, including participation numbers, the extensive maintenance our fields require following the spring and summer seasons, and needed repairs to our concession stand.

We understand this news may be disappointing, and we sincerely apologize to everyone who was looking forward to another season of baseball this fall. Our priority is ensuring that our facilities are in the best possible condition so we can continue providing a safe and enjoyable experience for all of our players and families.

Anyone who has already registered for Fall Ball will receive a full refund. We will be reaching out with additional information regarding the refund process as soon as possible.

We truly appreciate the continued support of our players, families, volunteers, and sponsors. We look forward to seeing everyone back at the ballfields for another great season in the spring.
