In Loving Memory of Mike Henderson

The Community Foundation is saddened by the loss of Mike Henderson. Mike passed away on October 2, 2026. He played an integral role in establishing the Foundation and was an enthusiastic supporter of the Covington Circle Trail.

Surviving are his three children: son Brian (Louise), daughter Lisa Acker (Rob) and daughter Kay Gerhardinger (Joe), as well as nine grandchildren: Glennis Henderson (Michael Lewis), Allison Henderson, Kristen Henderson (Piotr Bajda), Ian Acker, Calvin Acker, Wils Acker (Cristina Nevelits), Anna Gerhardinger, Mary Gerhardinger and William Gerhardinger. Also surviving are his sister-in-law, Susan Orr Henderson, brother-in-law Hank (Marsha) Bilsland, several nephews, nieces and other relatives.

Thank you to all of the public and partners that showed up for the event this morning! It was a beautiful day. We are excited to formally dedicate this additional to the Covington Circle Trail and thankful to Wabash River Blueway and Purdue College and Community Collaboration (Purdue Center for Regional Development (PCRD)) for their financial support!

SEPTEMBER 29th @ 10 AM! There will be a bridge dedication for the new pedestrian bridge in Covington! The Wabash River Blueway, which contributed $500,000 toward this project, will be giving away a kayak! Enter to win at the event.

This will take place at the easternmost part of the bridge (where this picture was taken). If you need accommodations, please reach out.

We had another family bring in more coats after hitting the New Thrift Shop. This is your reminder that we are collecting coats for the coat drive. So as you are cleaning your closets , going to thrift stores, and at rummage sales if you find a coat or a good deal please bring them in as we share the warmth of God’s love by bringing warmth to those who need a coat this year.

We are thrilled to announce that our school pool remodeling project is complete. Our students have been taking advantage of swim classes since school started, and we are now ready to invite our community to see the upgrades firsthand.

Please join us for a Community Pool Party on October 14th from 5:00-7:00pm. Come enjoy the new pool and celebrate this exciting milestone with us!
