Our unit and council PTA officers were joined by the First District PTA President, Rebecca Johnson at the State of the District event on November 7th, 2025. We got to hear about all the great things that are happening at our district, got an overview of all the amazing programs our students get to participate in and that help them cultivate skills for life beyond graduation. We also listened to inspirational speeches from our State Senator, Susan Rubio, and our State Assemblywoman, Blanca Rubio.

The Covina-Valley Council of PTAs is joining the and all of the 995 national, state, regional, and local PTA/PTSA units in the joint advocacy effort to challenge the suspension of SNAP benefits amid the ongoing shutdown and is urging Congress to restore SNAP benefits immediately. While the California’s universal school meal program helps during the day, many families in our community rely on the SNAP benefits fills the gaps for dinners, weekends, holidays, and school breaks. Without these funds, many families will face hardships. While some state emergency programs are in place, they are only temporary. The most urgent solution is to restore the benefits at the federal level.

C-VUSD continues to offer free meals to all of our students daily. Students may receive a breakfast and a lunch during a school day, including Saturday school. Students who attend after school programs also receive a free supper meal. Covina High School also offers free daily supper meals from 2:50-4:00pm. Must check in the office before proceeding to the cafeteria.
