The Town of North Courtland Parks & Recreation, together with our nonprofit partners, is helping youth prepare for a successful school year.

✅ Free backpacks, school supplies, book bags, and care bags — while supplies last!

📣The Inaugural FARMING THE FUTURE: Hazlewood Elementary School Day is almost here! 📣

Urban Grid is thrilled to welcome Hazlewood Elementary Summer Reading Camp students for a hands‑on, STEM‑powered day of discovery — at the Northern Alabama Solar Education Exhibit Classroom at the R.A. Hubbard Center!

On Wednesday, June 17 from 10 AM – 2 PM, students will explore:
✨ Solar energy & how the sun powers our world
✨ Sheep grazing on solar farms
✨ Beekeeping & pollinator habitats
✨ Space, science, and sustainability
✨ Real‑world farming & land stewardship
✨ PLUS a close‑up look at the lambs born on solar farms!

This exciting educational experience is made possible through partnership with First Solar, Lockheed Martin, the Lawrence County School System and the R.A. Hubbard Center — bringing the future of clean energy and agriculture directly to Lawrence County students.

Calling ALL children to join us for an exciting month of stories, crafts, special guests, snacks, and fun at the Courtland Public Library!

Our 2026 Summer Reading Program will take place EVERY Thursday in JUNE from 2–3 p.m.

We are truly grateful for every sponsor, donor, and volunteer who helped bring the Hubbard Legacy Banquet to life. 🙏

The many individuals who gave their time decorating along side Mrs. Clay & crew and those assisting with preparing and providing ‘fine’ dining with Rhoda P’s. And a special shoutout to COC Concrete Finishers aka Caleb “Bone” Carter for his expert craftsmanship installing the Center’s new historical marker.

The financial support, the time, and the willingness to serve made this event not only possible, but meaningful. 📣 On behalf of the R. A. Hubbard Legacy Foundation… we are truly grateful for the incredible support shown at the R.A. Hubbard Legacy Banquet.

A heartfelt thank you to Mayor Riely Evans and the Town of North Courtland for aligning with the vision of refocusing, reimagining and revitalizing the Hubbard campus---now a historic landmark. Your support helps keep this important legacy alive.

We also want to extend our sincere appreciation to all of our SPONSORS & DONORS (whose names will be provided in a separate post)---your generosity and belief in this mission make events like this possible.

A special thank you to AMRV RC&D for the grant award that made it possible to purchase 20 round tables and 140 chairs. These were proudly used during the banquet and will continue to serve our purpose at future events held at the center. We are delighted & pleased by your organization that serves communities like ours.
