🎉✨ R.A. Hubbard Legacy Banquet…. IT’S MORE THAN A BANQUET — IT’S A CELEBRATION OF LEGACY! ✨🎉

“The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord.” Psalm 37:23

And those steps continue to echo through our schools, neighborhoods, and lives.

We invite you to join us for the 2nd Annual R. A. Hubbard Legacy Banquet, an unforgettable night filled with joy, remembrance, fellowship, and pride as we honor the life, leadership, and lasting influence of Mr. R. A. Hubbard — not only a principal, but a pillar —whose dedication to education and excellence helped shape generations.

Mr. Hubbard often reminded his students with words that still guide us today: “Let Nothing Get In Your Way.”

This mindset emphasizes perseverance and resilience, encouraging everyone to push through obstacles and challenges without losing focus, and it empowers us all to defend our freedom and our pursuit of success.

That belief lives on within each of us.

This evening will shine a spotlight not only on Mr. Hubbard’s remarkable legacy, but also on the stalwarts of our communities who still carry the torch of leadership, service, and dedication forward. It’s a celebration of where we’ve been, who we are, and where we’re going—together.

Today we remember Principal Richard Alexander Hubbard who started his career in 1928 when Black children grades 1-12 attended school in the Old Baptist Academy in Courtland, AL. Mr. Hubbard initially worked as a janitor and went on to complete his college degree, allowing him to return as a teacher. During his career, Mr. Hubbard served as principal from 1936 to 1970. During the 1940’s, Principal Hubbard was able to begin to fulfill his dream of establishing a dedicated physical school building to serve children from the local and surrounding communities who were in dire need of a space where they could have greater access to receiving a formal education. Mr. Hubbard went on to complete additional advanced degree studies. Through his commitment, persistence and support from the community, churches and local organizations, Mr. Hubbard accomplished amazing victories and made an impact advancing education for children in Lawrence County, AL. His leadership has led to generations of children receiving an education and being prepared for success. Although he is no longer with us, we cherish his life and contributions to this community and Lawrence County.
