No Trunk or Treat
Since the CCO is on hiatus, we wanted to make sure that residents know that there will be no Trunk or Treat this Halloween. We held Trunk or Treat last Halloween, and there were very few children who came. Trunk or Treat was always a fun event, and we are sorry that we won’t have it this year.

Coupland Dancehall Saved.
The historic honky-tonk was on the verge of fading into Texas history, but thanks to the folks at Lightstream Presents (the same team behind Haute Spot in Cedar Park), it’s getting a brand-new lease on life.
The dancehall will close briefly on October 12th for a little refresh, then swing its doors back open on Friday, November 7th, with Aaron Watson headlining the grand reopening show!

From Susan Schmidt, Coupland Civic Organization President: Because of low participation and lack of interest, the Civic Organization is going on hiatus. It is not disbanding altogether in hopes eventually some younger community members will want to revive it. The Coupland Civic Organization’s Board decided to donate the depot, the caboose and surrounding area to the City of Coupland with the stipulations of maintaining the property and protecting its historical significance. The City will also sponsor the publishing of the Coupland Herald. The CCO will still sponsor Trunk or Treat and Santa at the Depot. The City will sponsor National Night Out. Choo Choo Fest will no longer be held. It is with great sadness that the board is doing this, but the board is ageing and there is no one to take our places. The general lack of participation has also factored in our decision as well. With that, I bid you farewell. Currently, the plan is to still post Coupland news on this page.

The Coupland Civic Organization will hold a meeting on Monday, March 31, featuring the Williamson County Office of Emergency Management, the office that assists communities and coordinates resources for all-hazards management. The office will explain how they warn Central Texas of emergency hazards. Residents can protect families and property by signing up for free to get official emergency alerts for their neighborhoods by texts, emails, or phone. The program will include the National Weather Service Basic Skywarn Storm Spotter Training. The meeting will be held in the fellowship hall of St. Peter’s Church of Coupland with snacks at 6:30 p.m. The program is from 7 to 9 p.m.

This year, the Coupland Civic Organization (CCO) Santa at the Depot event was a big success. On December 15, Jonathan Jones arrived on a fire truck and did his usual great job of acting as Santa. Jonathan also decorated the Depot and caboose with Christmas lights, and the CCO purchased a large inflatable Christmas arch that was placed over the walkway. There was a long line of kids waiting to talk to Santa. The CCO handed out free cookies, candy canes, and hot chocolate.
