Where Art Enhances Nature and Nature Enhances Art: a fun and surprising outdoor experience to wander trails, learn unique art, and immerse in an old native forest. Price Sculpture Forest was created from a convergence of many events, interests, and partnerships over years of planning, effort, and implementation. This community park was created and opened in Coupeville on beautiful Whidbey Island.

Please contact us for any information or if you would like to collaborate and be a part of its ongoing story. The Sculpture Forest provides the local community and tourists with a healthy, relaxing, informative, and fun experience that integrates nature with art. Artists are provided a respected and frictionless venue to display their craft for interested visitors and patrons. The park will eventually become self-sustaining as an integrated participant within the larger Whidbey Island arts and parks community. Other benefits:
> Preserve a healthy 100+ year old forest close to downtown Coupeville
> Preserve a large forested viewscape ridgeline in Ebey’s Reserve
Provide a free outdoor art experience (donations encouraged yet optional)
> Provide walking trails with immersive arts and environmental education
> Support and grow the local arts community
> Create a unique and fun experience for locals and visitors on Whidbey Island

Ways you can participate:
> Sculptors: Display your sculpture for the public to see, including sculpture for sale or on loan
> Sculpture Donors or Lenders: Donate or lend your sculpture to the park, and be publicly recognized for your generosity
> Volunteer: Collaborate with us in creating and maintaining the Sculpture Forest
> Donate: This effort is entirely funded by private donations and has an all-volunteer staff. We look forward to seeing you out on the art-filled trails! Things to know for your visit:
> We are open 365 days per year from 8:00am to sunset or 7:00pm (whichever occurs first)

One of the quiet miracles at PSF happens close to the ground. Across the forest floor, fern fiddleheads begin to unfurl toward the light, slowly opening after the long winter season. Their spiraled shapes feel almost sculptural themselves, reminding us that nature is one of the greatest artists of all.

At PSF, beauty is found not only in the large installations and towering evergreens, but also in the small details waiting to be discovered along the trail.

The forest is constantly changing.

Growing.
Unfolding.
Becoming.

These fleeting moments of spring remind us to slow down, look closely, and appreciate the quiet transformations happening all around us.

✨ Sometimes the smallest details hold the greatest wonder.

This image reminds us that PSF is more than a sculpture park. It is a living space for creativity, reflection, performance, imagination, and connection.

Surrounded by towering evergreens and ferns, dancer James Kirby Rogers becomes part of the landscape itself, responding to the forest, the light, and the artwork in motion. The result feels almost dreamlike, as if the forest itself is dancing to the choreography of Eva Stone.

Experiences like this are part of what makes PSF unique. Art here is not confined to walls or pedestals. It exists in relationship with nature and with the people who encounter it.

✨ Every visit offers something unexpected.
🌿 Every trail becomes part of the experience.

Did you know the 🚲 🚲 rack at PSF is also a work of art? Our bike rack sculpture, Because She Loved Them by Ken Price and a friend, welcomes cyclists traveling through Whidbey Island and offers a creative place to park before exploring the forest trails.

The installation was created by Ken in celebration of his wife Pat whose love of nature, community, volunteering, and the forest helped inspire the spirit of this place.

Each panel within the bike rack features designs inspired by the natural world and Pacific Northwest wildlife that Pat volunteered to help protect, blending creativity, craftsmanship, and purpose into an everyday experience for visitors arriving by bike.

Ken is also the father of the PSF founder, making this installation not only functional public art, but part of the family story woven into the Sculpture Forest itself.

It is one of the many examples of how art at PSF is designed to be lived with, interacted with, and discovered in unexpected ways.

🌿 Bike through Whidbey Island.
🌿 The Sculpture Forest is located as the end destination of an official Island County bike route.
🌿 Pause in the forest.
🌿 Park beside a sculpture created with love and meaning.

Whether you arrive on two wheels, two feet, or with family and friends, the Sculpture Forest is designed to be a place where people can slow down, explore, and experience nature and art together.

🌸This is a beautiful time of year to visit. The Pacific Rhododendrons are blooming throughout the forest, soft bursts of color appearing naturally among the towering evergreens of Whidbey Island 🌸

What makes them even more special is that they were never planted or carefully arranged by hand. They simply belong here.

🌲Season after season, they return on their own, growing wild, resilient, and deeply connected to this forest.

Places like this don’t just give us somewhere to walk.

They remind us to slow down.
To breathe deeper.
To notice more 🤎

And they continue to exist because of a community that cares enough to nurture and protect them.

✨If you’ve been meaning to visit, this is a beautiful time to wander through the forest.

✨And if you’ve ever wanted to help care for a place like this, we’d love to welcome you as part of the PSF volunteer community 🌿https://sculptureforest.org/volunteer/

We’re excited to share a recent evolution of Jenni Ward Art's “Lichen Series: Spore Patterns” at Price Sculpture Forest.

Jenni, the ceramic artist behind this popular installation, continues to be part of our community even from her studio in Mexico. Recently, she returned to add new integrated elements to the sculpture—filling an originally open center and bringing new depth, detail, and presence to the biomorphic form.

The artists of the Sculpture Forest become members of a supportive community that continues to be involved and appreciated long after their sculpture is installed. They remain , , and as their work sometimes even evolves over time.

🌿It is a beautiful reminder that art does not need to be static, especially in a living forest.🌿

🌿It is also a reminder that the artists themselves become part of a lasting community, growing alongside their work.🌿

Come experience this transformation for yourself.

“PSF is one of my favorite field trips every year. Engaging with art in an outdoor space is perfect for my young students, as they bring energy and exuberance to the outing,” said Alicia Bartel, 1st grade teacher at Island Christian Academy.

She adds, “It sparks their creativity and gives them an opportunity to see art in a new way. Scott portrays the meaning of the art in age-appropriate ways and answers all the students’ questions thoughtfully. I am always surprised by the insight and imagination of young people. I am so appreciative of this amazing space available right here on Whidbey Island.”

After their visit, students shared what stayed with them:

🦖 “My favorite part was the T-Rex sculpture.”

🌊 “I learned that Native Americans lived on the beach below.”

🪽 “My favorite part was the Pegasus.”

These moments are why a field trip to the Sculpture Forest matters—where art and nature come together to spark curiosity, imagination, and discovery.

For many students, this is more than a field trip, it’s a first experience of seeing art, nature, and learning come together in a meaningful way.

Thank you to the teachers, students, and supporters who make these experiences possible.
