Today was an exciting day! We got to celebrate the enrollment of some new soldiers!! We also celebrated Palm Sunday!

If you’re looking for a place to worship on Easter Sunday feel free to join us! Worship is at 11am and Sunday school is at 10am!

This Friday is world day of prayer! We celebrated tonight during Kids club! Look how much fun they had!!

We had prayer suitcases filled with objects that reminded us of things to pray for, and each bag had an assortment of country names of the 134 countries that we serve in!
All 134 countries got prayed over! And we made boats that float and a prayer chain!
If you have a prayer request you’d like to have included on our prayer chain feel free to share below! We want to coat our community in prayer!

For those who might need to get out of the cold for a bit, we will be open tomorrow!! We are open from 9am - 3:00 pm!

WARMING CENTERS OPENING SOON: We are stepping up to help those in need amid the arctic blast that's forecasted for the Omaha metro. We will be opening four warming centers around the metro area starting on Friday 1/23. Anyone in need who is looking to get out of the cold will find a safe, heated space in which to warm up, get coffee/water, and charge up their electronic devices. Warming center locations -- and dates/times of operation -- are as follows:

• North Corps (2401 Manderson) 8:30 a.m. – 4 p.m. Friday 1/23
• Heritage Place at Renaissance Village (3612 Cuming St) 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. Friday 1/23
• Kroc Center Omaha (2825 Y St) 7 a.m. – 8 p.m. Friday 1/23 AND 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. Saturday 1/24
• Council Bluffs Corps (715 N. 16th St) 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. Friday 1/23

In 1961 the Salvation Army of Council Bluffs had its first Tree of Lights! It’s been going on ever since! This year you will find our tree at American National Bank on W broadway!
There is still time to give to the Tree of lights campaign!
Find a kettle at the local grocery stores, or stop by our office!

Salvation Army erected its first Tree of Lights in Council Bluffs as a visual progress report of their annual kettle drive in 1961; one bulb went on for every $25 collected. The first couple of years the tree was in the parking lot of the State Savings Bank, then moved to the post office grounds. This picture is undated, but from the movies showing at the Strand in the background we're going to place this photo as 1968. Thanks to Historical Society member Valerie Thorson for donating this great photo to our archives!
