Council Bluffs Optimist Club We are a community service organization, affiliated with Optimist International.

We provide members with opportunities for personal and professional development while, doing projects to benefit youth in the Council Bluffs area.

Each year since 1965 local optimist clubs have recognized selected peace officers in their community with the Respect for Law award. Each year the Council Bluffs club recognizes 1 officer each from the Council Bluffs Police Department, Pottawattamie County Sheriff's Office and the Iowa State Patrol -Council Bluffs Post 3.

The 2026 Respect for Law award winners are: from the Council Bluffs Police Department - Officer Jerad Petersen; from the Pottawattamie County Sheriff's Office- Investigator Adam Fields; and from Iowa State Patrol Post 3 - Trooper Cody Campbell. Thank you for your dedicated service to our community!
