Council Bluffs Cosmopolitan Club Cosmopolitan Club is a non-profit organization that helps raise money for the community with special emphasis on preventing and finding a cure for diabetes

Cosmopolitan International began its long and storied history in Kansas City, Missouri in 1918 where the club was formally chartered and incorporated as the International Federation of Cosmopolitan Clubs. Our founder, attorney Patrick J. Hodgins, wanted a civic organization that fully adopted the ideals of Unity of purpose, Service to the community and Action on the part of all members. The name C

osmopolitan was selected because of the meaning of “citizen of the world.”

Cosmopolitans have been involved in a variety of local projects in the communities we serve, with over 50 clubs throughout the United States and Canada. Our true legacy is in the area of our fight against diabetes. The membership took on diabetes as our International Project in 1977. Since that time, Cosmopolitan has established itself as a leader in the fight with internationally renowned centers working to identify, treat and research this horrible disease.

Join us for Alumni Weekend at Camp Hertko Hollow, a special time to reconnect with old friends, share memories, and celebrate the spirit of camp. This fun-filled weekend will include traditional camp activities, campfire stories, and plenty of time to relax and reminisce.

Whether you were a camper, counselor, or volunteer, we welcome you back to where it all began. Come see what’s new, revisit your favorite spots, and help us honor the legacy of Camp Hertko Hollow. Current camp families are welcome to attend the daytime option!

May 15-17, 2026: Adult Overnight Program (18+)
Program Fees:
$250 (includes lodging, food, and activities)

May 16, 2026: Children and Family Day Program
Program Fees:

Adult (18+) $85 (includes lunch and activities)
Child (2-17) $65 ((includes lunch and activities)
Children (0-2) Free

Emma has been going to Camp Hertko Hollow with the help of the Council Bluffs Cosmopolitan Club since she was 7 years old. Emma is now 17 years old has attended the camps leadership training, and this year is a Counselor in Training (CIT) for the camp.

Right now, kids with type 1 diabetes are ziplining through the trees, building coping tools, learning more about their diabetes, and making lifelong friendships around the campfire.

They’re gaining confidence with finger pokes and pump changes, laughing through talent shows, and feeling what it’s like to belong in a place where diabetes doesn’t make them feel different.

These moments are only possible because of the generosity of people like you.
